Team GEMS: champs in Echague’s first Sepak-Takraw cup

Team GEMS emerged as champions in the first ever LGU-Echague Sepak-Takraw Invitational Cup held at the Evacuation Center on, October 15, 2023.
The game was on fire as Team GEMS exchanged intense kicks and spikes with Team RTU as they clinched their way to the top of the game. Fierce with passion for the sport, their tactics paved their way to win in the final battle, eliminating their last standing opponent.
With their teamwork and winning moves, the GEMS defeated RTU after their final triumphant kick that swept the championship game, ending with a 2-0 score. “ Pinag-aralan namin yung mga laro nila. Yung kumpyansa ko sa players ko ay mataas. Kumbaga bago mag-start ang finals ay alam kong kayang-kaya na nila. Yung connection nila sa bawat isa ay lumalim para walang imposible sa pagkuha namin sa championship,” said GEMS coach Rudolph Allvarez.
Mayor Faustino “Kiko” Dy graced the event with his presence and words of wisdom. “Una sa lahat, I’m very happy and proud na dumayo pa yung karamihan sa kanila. Talagang nakikilala yung community culture na meron sa atin. [Ang] Mengal Festival naman [ay] para sa kultura ng Echague, kaya dapat i-celebrate natin ito so that it would not be a dying culture,” he stated.
The champs bagged Php50,000.00 cash prize. Team RTU secured the second spot with Php30,000 cash prize while EARIST placed third with Php20,000.00. All winning teams went home with their respective trophies.
