The NU Lady Bulldogs made history by claiming their ticket to their first-ever Finals appearance after defeating the UP Fighting Maroons, 3–2, in the Final Four round of the Women’s Badminton Tournament.

WD2: Hallene Diaz & Alhana Mabale (NU) def. Brys Fuggan & Anthea Gonzales, 2-0.

WS3: Karyll Rio (NU) def. Susmita Ramos (UP), 2-1.
[21 - 8 I 20 - 22 I 21 - 13]

The Ateneo Blue Eagles will face the NU Lady Bulldogs in the Women’s Badminton Tournament Finals, while the UP Fighting Maroons and UST Lady Shuttlers will battle for the bronze medal — both matches happening tomorrow at 1:00 PM at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.

NU Lady Bulldogs UNLEASH! 🔥 Dethrone UP in a Five-Game War to Storm into the UAAP Finals 💪💛💙

The NU Women’s Badminton Team came in locked, loaded, and fearless, taking down the reigning queens, the UP Lady Fighting Maroons, in an electrifying five-game showdown to book their spot in the UAAP Season 88 Championship Round!

From the opening serve, Ysabel Amora set the tone for NU’s fiery start, dominating UP’s Fuggan in straight sets, 21-10, 22-20. Her signature power and precision put the Lady Bulldogs ahead early, igniting the pack’s momentum.

UP bit back in the second match as Anthea Gonzales toppled Hailene Diaz, 21-8, 21-18. But Diaz showed no quit, her smooth drop shots and fierce spirit reminded everyone why the Bulldogs are never easy prey.

With the series heating up, Amora teamed up with Alysa Desacola in the first doubles match against Krissa De Leon and Susmita Ramos. Despite NU’s solid defense and long rallies, UP’s aggression edged them out, 13-21, 12-21, putting the Maroons up 2–1.

But the Bulldogs don’t back down, they bite harder. 🐾
In the fourth game, Diaz and Alhana Mabale went full throttle, turning defense into offense to dismantle Fuggan and Gonzales. Their powerful smashes and relentless energy pushed the tie into a decider, 21-18, 21-16.

And then came the final showdown. 💥
Karyll Rio took center court, nerves of steel and eyes on gold. Facing Susmita Ramos, Rio came out swinging, dominating the first set (21-8), weathering a tight second (20-22), and closing the door in the third (21-13) with unstoppable precision and composure.

NU’s Lady Bulldogs have officially snatched the crown from the champs and are charging straight into the UAAP Finals fierce, focused, and hungry for that championship!! 🐶 🐾
