PUP Sports Development Program Office (SDPO) Director Romulo B. Hubbard, together with Chiefs Wendell Padilla and Ryan Enriquez, pose with Ms. Ysabielle Arrogante, a PUP Karatedo athlete and former Team Captain, and senior Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies who proudly represented the Philippines at the 2026 Asian Games, where she won a bronze medal in Team Kata.

Ms. Arrogante paid a visit to the SDPO, where she was warmly congratulated by Director Hubbard and the SDPO staff for her outstanding achievement. The fourth-year Bachelor of Physical Education student Adriano opened her campaign with a close 4โ€“3 win over Cambodia, followed by a commanding 4โ€“0 victory against South Korea in the quarterfinals.

The road to gold came down to the wire. In a nail-biting semifinal against Hong Kong, our KaRadical fought until the very last moment, narrowly falling 4โ€“5.

But the erstwhile Marie June came back strong in the bronze-medal match, putting on a dominant performance against Chinese Taipei and securing a decisive 10โ€“3 victory to claim her spot on the podium.

From the SCUAA-NCR mat and hallway of PUP College of Human Kinetics building to the Asian Games stage, Marie June showed what it means to fight with grit, composure, and heart.

PUP KaRadical ๐˜๐ฌ๐š๐›๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž ๐€๐ซ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ž has officially captured ๐›๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ณ๐ž in ๐–๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐งโ€™๐ฌ ๐“๐ž๐š๐ฆ ๐Š๐š๐ญ๐š at the ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” ๐€๐ฌ๐ข๐š๐ง ๐†๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ฌ in ๐“๐จ๐ฒ๐จ๐ก๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐ข, ๐€๐ข๐œ๐ก๐ข, ๐‰๐š๐ฉ๐š๐ง!

Together with Samantha Emmanuelle Veguillas and Rebecca Cyril Torres, Ysabielle and Team Philippines opened their campaign with a strong 5โ€“0 victory over Cambodia in the quarterfinals. They faced powerhouse Iran in the semifinals before bouncing back in the bronze-medal match, defeating Thailand 4โ€“1 to secure their place on the podium.

A former Womenโ€™s Team Captain and a proud KaRadical, Ysabielle has taken the journey from the halls of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines all the way to the biggest stage in Asian sport.

Now a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies student and reigning PASUC National Olympics Womenโ€™s Kata Champion, she continues to show that being a student-athlete means carrying your dreams far beyond the classroomโ€”and sometimes, all the way to the international podium.

Three senior PUP students and members of PUP Karatedo Team are set to don the Philippine colors at the ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ญ๐ก ๐€๐ฌ๐ข๐š๐ง ๐†๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ฌ in ๐๐š๐ ๐จ๐ฒ๐š-๐€๐ข๐œ๐ก๐ข, ๐‰๐š๐ฉ๐š๐ง from ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ— ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ž๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ’, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”.

Leading the Philippines is psychology major ๐€๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ง ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ง, Team Captain of the Philippine Karatedo Team who will compete in Kumite.

Joining him in Kumite for the womenโ€™s category is also senior physical education major ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ž ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐€๐๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ง๐จ who is the reigning womenโ€™s -50kgs champion in SCUAA-NCR and former KaRadicals Team Captain and reigning National-SCUAA Kata Queen ๐˜๐ฌ๐š๐›๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž ๐€๐ซ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ž from the Bachelor in Secondary Education-Social Studies.

The triumvirate of PUP student-athletes will challenge the best Karatekas in Asia particularly the dreaded hometown Japanese bet where Karate discipline. originated. Auspiciously, their campaign will be taking place in Aichi, the prefecture considered as the cradle and birthplace of the three great unifiers of Japan, Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu.
