Blocking Stereotypes, Spiking Equality
Benold Casanova, Allany Aquino, Salem Delos Santos, and Benhur Bang-i, grade 10 volleyball varsity players playing a game of girls vs boys. In their intense rally, the boys leap to spike the ball while the girls rise together to block it. Because even sports arenโt defined by oneโs gender. When students block stereotypes, they end up spiking through the net of bias. The court becomes more than a place of competition, but one where power and teamwork know no bounds. Oneโs skill, determination, and effort are all the same, regardless of whoโs across the net. Fostering equality starts when students spike with no hesitation.
These varsity players not only inspire the team, but also their classmates. They show that their capabilities are limitless no matter their gender. Because influence is not preceded by gender, but by their power and courage to show equality. As students unite their voices, they set the ball of change in motion.
