Just a little guide to our participants on how to choose a category π
π’ Beginner Division (Approx. 2.0β2.5 Skill Level)
πΎ Description
For players new to pickleball who are learning fundamentals β rules, strokes, footwork, and strategy. Ideal for those joining their first tournament in a relaxed setting.
Typical Characteristics:
Knows basic rules (serving, scoring, double bounce, NVZ(kitchen).
Can rally a few balls but still lacks consistency.
Still learning teamwork and positioning.
Focused on just getting the ball over the net.
Has not joined any major tournament yet.
Not Beginner Ifβ¦
Can control shot direction and pace.
Can serve and return consistently.
Uses d***s, drops, or volleys tactically.
Has played in previous tournaments or has a DUPR rating above 2.5.
π‘ Low Intermediate Division (Approx. 2.75β3.25 Skill Level)
πΎ Description
For players who already play regularly, have some competition experience, and are building consistency and tactical awareness.
Typical Characteristics:
Consistent serves and returns with control.
Understands basic positioning and teamwork.
Can rally longer points and attempt drops or d***s.
Has played in minor or local events but not major tournaments.
Not Low Intermediate Ifβ¦
Shows advanced control, placement, and shot variety.
Uses spin, third shot drops, and volleys effectively.
Has played in major tournaments or has a DUPR rating above 3.25 or equivalent skill.
