Ang leader line ay yung maikling piraso ng linya na ikinakabit sa dulo ng main fishing line, bago ang kawit o pain.

Napakahalaga nito sa pangingisda dahil:

1. Mas matibay laban sa kagat at gasgas
Mas makapal at mas matibay ang leader line
Hindi agad napuputol kapag:
Kumagat ang isda
Kumiskis sa bato, kahoy, o coral

2. Mas hindi halata sa isda
Karaniwang gawa sa fluorocarbon o malinaw na linya
Hindi madaling makita sa tubig
➡ Mas tumataas ang tsansang kumagat ang isda

3. Proteksyon sa main line
Kung maputol man, leader lang ang mawawala, hindi buong linya
Tipid at praktikal

4. Mas maayos ang presentasyon ng pain
Mas natural gumalaw ang pain sa tubig
Hindi natatakot ang isda sa makapal na main line
5. Para sa malalaking isda o matatalim na ngipin
