Preparing for the requires serious endurance, as you will face a punishing 65KM or 30KM climb from sea level up to Tagaytay.
Essential Training Strategies
• Build Long Distance: Gradually increase your long slow distance (L*D) runs to hit at least 40–50KM in training before race day.
• Train the Climb: Include plenty of uphill and downhill routes to prepare your legs for the steady ascent along Aguinaldo Highway.
• Practice Night Runs: Since the 65K category typically starts late in the evening (around 10:00 PM), get used to running in the dark.
• Test Your Gear: Wear-test your actual race shoes, hydration vests, and apparel during long training blocks.
Race Logistics & Requirements
• Mandatory Gear: Bring a working headlamp, a flashing safety blinker or reflective vest, and a fully charged mobile phone.
• Pacing: Do not start too fast on the flat Manila and Cavite (Aguinaldo highway) stretches; save your strength for the grueling climbs in the final kilometers.
• Fuel Early: Practice your nutrition and hydration strategy early during training runs rather than figuring it out on the road.
