Your brilliant strategy and mental toughness have truly paid off. Heavy school demands, journalism tasks, and inconsistent training did not stop you..
Also to Alexander Medalla in 2014 (Boys) – 4 points out of 6 rounds. Your calculation and grit on the board are truly commendable despite the heavy schedules and tough balancing acts, you showed incredible focus and talent. Congratulations to Ylorah Daign Puertas, our newly minted Grade 7 student. Moving up to high school brings so much homework and a busy schedule, leaving practically no time for chess training. Yet pure talent, determination and sharp focus shined through, earning the 1st Top Oton title in 2nd Faustino "Nonoy" Briones Memorial Chess Tournament. And to the rest of ICB players, we all know how crazy these past few weeks have been. Balancing rigorous school activities, endless assignments, and a hectic academic schedule is tough enough on its own. Yet, you still found the time, focus, and mental energy to sit at the board, and give it your absolute absolute best. Win or lose, your dedication, resilience, and passion shone through. Managing your time to compete under that kind of pressure is a massive achievement in itself. You showed true grit, and you have proven that you are not just brilliant players, but incredibly hardworking individuals.

Rest up, catch up on your sleep, and hold your heads high—you earned it!

We know how tough things have been lately. Juggling school and important academic activities meant our training sessions were quite inconsistent, and our training fees had to range anywhere from 0 to 700 pesos/mo depending on the setup and availability. Despite those heavy school demands and schedule shifts, you still showed incredible focus, heart, and brilliance on the board. This proves that your natural talent, dedication, intelligence and character truly shine no matter the odds.
Keep up the great work, stay humble, and good luck with your current school tasks - Journalism (Copy Editing and Headline Writing Filipino/English and Asian MathSci League)
