Gigmoto Badminton Tournament Honors Champions in Awarding Ceremony
Gigmoto, Catanduanes — The awarding ceremony of the 3rd Mayor Vicente J. Tayam Jr. Badminton Tournament highlighted a night of celebration and recognition on May 16, 2026, at the Gigmoto Town Plaza, where winners and runners-up were formally awarded with trophies and cash prizes for their outstanding performances.
The event capped the week-long competition with all category champions and finalists receiving their respective awards in front of a supportive crowd, underscoring both athletic excellence and community spirit.
In the Men’s Doubles, Mark Jun Añonuevo and Freddie Tolledo were crowned champions, while John Robin Camacho and Lance Daryll Villarete finished 1st Runner-Up. In the Women’s Doubles, Shaina Oclarino and Christine Torillos secured the title, with Cassandra Leigh Chavez and Reinalen Torillos as runners-up.
The Inter-Agency category saw Sancho Loyd Dio and Esa Manuel Vargas of LGU dominate the field, followed by Adon Samonte and Mhaey Tatel of Gigmoto District Hospital as 1st Runner-Up.
For the youth divisions, Pamela Mae D. Jimenez ruled the Under-10 Girls Singles over Jeneca Faith Marin, while Klyde Ethan Tayoto topped the Under-10 Boys Singles against Xander Dullente, with both champions and runners-up receiving trophies and cash incentives.
The awarding ceremony concluded with strong applause, marking the successful staging of the tournament and the continued growth of badminton in Gigmoto.
