Missed our last IDC? We are running three more IDCs with Instructor Development Philippines this year!

The Instructor Development Course is where Divemasters make the leap from guiding and assisting to teaching independently. It's an intensive 19-day program that transforms your dive skills to demonstration quality and trains you to run safe, effective courses. You'll work with award-winning Course Directors Tim and Berlinda, learning not just what to teach, but how to teach it well.

This isn't a factory program where you're just ticking boxes. Class sizes are kept small so you get personalized attention and mentorship. You'll practice teaching presentations, refine your in-water skills until they're flawless, and learn how to handle the real challenges that come up when working with students underwater.

June 8 is World Ocean Day! To celebrate, we organized an underwater and beach cleanup today.

But the work doesn't stop after World Ocean Day is over. As a Green Fins Member, our commitment to protecting the ocean is at the heart of everything we do. Aside from doing regular underwater and beach cleanups, we have eliminated plastic straws, bottles, and other single-use plastics from our resort. But we don't stop there!

These are some of the other initiatives we implement at Liquid:

Nearby Mount Talinis offers an incredible getaway for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. With its lush greenery, breathtaking views, and challenging trails, Talinis is excellent for outdoor exploration. Say hello to four new PADI dive instructors! Kimberley, Sascha, Yves, and Melissa all passed their Instructor Examination with Instructor Development Philippines yesterday, and they absolutely nailed it.

Even after running IDCs for so many years, this moment never gets old. Watching candidates evolve over the past few weeks, seeing them overcome challenges, and then witnessing them ace the IE – it's the best feeling in the world! What made it even better is that this group has been fantastic to work it.

Because we were the only ones running an IDC in Dauin in May, we wrapped things up early and had the whole afternoon to celebrate properly. After getting some rest today, we'll jump into the specialty instructor courses tomorrow.

We can't wait to see where this group goes from here. Congratulations, Kimberley, Sascha, Yves, and Melissa!

Say hello to four new PADI dive instructors! Kim, Sascha, Yves, and Melissa all passed their Instructor Examination yesterday, and they absolutely nailed it.

Nitrox - or Enriched Air - contains a higher percentage of oxygen than regular air, which means longer bottom times and shorter surface intervals. But it also means you need to know exactly what's in your tank.

Different oxygen percentages have different maximum operating depths, and diving too deep on the wrong mix can lead to oxygen toxicity. That's why analyzing your tank is a critical safety step that every Nitrox-certified diver is trained to do.

To do this, you calibrate the oxygen analyzer to 20.9% using fresh air (the normal oxygen content in the atmosphere). Then you open the tank valve slightly and let gas flow through the analyzer. The reading should show somewhere between 21% and 40% oxygen, depending on what blend was used. Once you have an accurate reading, you record three things on the tank tag: the oxygen percentage, the maximum operating depth for that mix, and your initials confirming you analyzed it yourself.

You are responsible for what you breathe, so even if someone else filled the tank or analyzed it before you, you verify it yourself. It takes less than a minute and could save your life.

Plant your own corals at Liquid!🪸

We have partnered with Institute for Marine Research to give our guests the opportunity to contribute to their coral restoration project. The Functional Restoration and Growth Studies (FRAGS) project was started by IMR to establish corals of opportunity onto an existing artificial reef. With community planting support, this artificial reef has the potential to become a donor coral larvae production site which could restore nearby degrading reef sites.

Once a week, we organize a FRAGS dive in which you get to plant your own corals! Our special FRAGS package includes an informative presentation and a hands-on coral planting dive, both led by one of IMR's marine biologists.

Liquid is a boutique beachfront resort in Dauin with 14 private cottages. You get the facilities of a bigger place – two swimming pools, a full restaurant and bar, an award-winning dive center – but without the noise and crowds.
