LIHOK as a training concept:
- LIHOK in English is movement which is fundamental to any sport believing in physics that specifically states that form follows function while also embracing sports science that emphasizes that correct movements will not only improve performance and efficiency but also minimize unnecessary injury. These ideas are central to developing relevant training concepts and routines in sports.
Why "Playing Cubs"?
- The “play concept” in youth sports is extremely important because it puts fun, learning, and holistic development at the center of sports participation—especially for children and adolescents.
- A tiger cub may be young, but its movements already show qualities that can inspire young athletes. These movement attributes reflect how learning, play, and physical development naturally happen. Among the many movement characteristics of a tiger cub are:
1. Agility -
Cub movements are quick and light. They change direction easily, showing the importance of flexibility and coordination in sports.
2. Balance and body control -
Even at a young age, cubs maintain balance while walking, climbing, or playing—similar to how athletes need stability in movement.
3. Curiosity-driven movement -
Cubs move because they are curious. This reflects how young athletes learn best through exploration and play, not pressure.
4. Playfulness -
Cubs learn essential skills by playing—running, pouncing, and wrestling. This mirrors the value of play-based learning in youth sports.
5. Progressive strength development -
A cub’s strength develops gradually through natural movement, reminding young athletes that strength grows over time with proper practice.
6. Fearless but guided movement -
Cubs attempt new movements confidently while still guided by their mother—similar to young athletes who need encouragement and coaching support.
7. Quick recovery after mistakes -
When cubs fall or fail, they quickly get up and try again. This teaches resilience and a growth mindset in sports.
8. Efficient and natural movement patterns -
Cubs move without stiffness or overthinking, highlighting the importance of relaxed, natural movement for efficiency and injury prevention.
All that LIHOK Volleyball Academy does revolves around these inter-related concepts that put every athlete at the center of all routines. Coaches are just guides for the athletes to attain the maximum progress that this academy envisions.
