Tyrese Maxey knows his role is going to change again in Philadelphia.
And he's not worried about it.
After the Sixers added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown to a team that already has Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecombe, Maxey was asked about potentially having to sacrifice next season.
His response was simple:
"I want to win."
Maxey has already been through this before. He played with Ben Simmons, then had his role change when James Harden arrived, before eventually becoming Philly's primary ballhandler and one of the team's biggest stars.
Now the equation is changing again.
There might be nights where Maxey scores 18 or 20 and the Sixers win.
There might be nights where he goes for 35.
As long as they're winning, he's good with either one.
And that's probably the right mindset for this roster.
LeBron can handle the ball. Brown can create. Embiid can dominate inside. VJ can develop as another playmaker.
Maxey doesn't have to do everything anymore.
In fact, playing more off the ball could give him more opportunities to attack with a running start, come off screens and punish defenses that are already occupied by four other threats.
The biggest question for Philly isn't whether they have enough talent.
It's whether everyone can accept that they won't always get to play their preferred way.
Maxey already sounds ready.
18 points and a win?
Or 35 and a win?
He'll take either.
