| ‎Bvto FC upsets Day Ones with breadstick win, notches Women's Open crown

‎Despite facing a stacked Day Ones squad, Bvto FC pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory to capture the Football 8-a-Side Tournament Women's Open title on May 26.
‎
‎Batonhon goalkeeper Francine Timbal stepped up when her team needed her the most, denying Day Ones' Chelsea Nancy Arcilla from the penalty spot to keep their team alive in the second half.
‎
‎Meanwhile, Bvto FC right winger CJ Tesorero proved to be the difference-maker, capitalizing on a second-half opportunity to score the lone goal of the dramatic encounter at the Catanduanes State University Oval.
‎
‎Wenneth Dela Rosa also played a crucial role in the championship run, dictating the midfield with relentless pressure and timely defensive stops.
‎
‎"Nung nakakuha sila ng penalty kinabahan kami. Pero, nung hindi sila naka-score, nabuhayan kami at naisip na may chance pa kaming bumawi," said Tesorero.
‎
‎Day Ones set the tone early through the attacking tandem of Ashley Nicole Arcilla and Lyka Mae Arcilla, who consistently threatened Bvto FC's defense.
‎
‎With Day Ones controlling much of the attacking play, Bvto FC weathered the storm and entered halftime locked in a scoreless stalemate.
‎
‎Determined to break the deadlock, Day Ones earned a penalty in the 28th minute, but Chelsea Nancy Arcilla failed to convert the opportunity, keeping the match scoreless and allowing Bvto FC to capitalize on the momentum shift moments later.
‎
‎Fueled by the momentum shift, Tesorero eventually punished the missed opportunity, poking the ball into the back of the net amid a scramble inside the penalty area to hand Bvto FC a 1-0 advantage.
‎
‎The Viracnons desperately searched for an equalizer and a chance to force a penalty shootout, but Bvto FC stood firm defensively and successfully protected their slim lead until the final whistle.
‎
‎"Sa totoo lang, may pressure talaga, kasi malalakas kalaban namin pero nag-focus lang kami sa game plan namin at nagtiwala sa isa't isa para makapaglaro nang maayos," Tesorero added.
‎
‎With this win, Bvto FC stands on the pinnacle of the tournament alongside another Bato-based team, BNWNG, who clinched the men's open title.

‎‎ | BNWNG edges Happy Friends Jr., nabs men's open category title

‎BNWNG showcased their grit-and-grind style of play after escaping with a narrow 1–0 victory over Happy Friends Jr. in the Football 8-Aside Tournament Men’s Open category championship match last May 26 at the Catanduanes State University Oval.
‎
‎Bato-based team seized the hard-earned championship title after successfully dodging a potential shootout drama against shootout specialist Happy Friends Jr. who previously won their quarterfinal and semifinal match on penalties.
‎
‎Imposing its attacking presence throughout the 40-minute encounter, BNWNG created multiple dangerous chances despite struggling to convert early opportunities.
‎
‎On the contrary, Happy Friends Jr. anchored their defense on the solid performances of John Mark Tabor and Archie Tabuzo, disrupting Banawang’s offensive rhythm and limiting their foe's goal to just one.
‎
‎“Nasakitan kami makagibo ning play na maayos lalo’t makusog ang kalaban,” said Banawang striker Edison T. Rodriguez.
‎
‎BNWNG came out aggressive right from the get go, persistently attacking both flanks while Happy Friends Jr.’s defense held firm under pressure.
‎
‎Fourteen-year-old Kirsnine Rael Tan stood tall for Happy Friends Jr., winning aerial battles and loose balls to ignite their side’s counterattacks.
‎
‎Both squads then displayed relentless intensity on both ends of the field, resulting in a scoreless deadlock at halftime.
‎
‎With the match still leveled halfway through the second half, Rodriguez delivered the breakthrough with six minutes remaining after heading a loose ball into the back of the net to give BNWNG a 1–0 advantage.
‎
‎Late game drama unfolded as the referee called a foul on BNWNG goalkeeper Zig Rey Clavero, awarding Happy Friends Jr. an indirect free kick that was eventually denied by their counterpart's defensive wall.
‎
‎BNWNG refused to slow down despite leading late, continuing their offensive push through the crafty footwork of Eman Soriao and Sean Tubalinal until the final whistle.
‎
‎Prior to the Men’s Open finals, Happy Friends Jr. also competed in the Men’s Under-23 finals, where they have also survived a tense 4–3 penalty shootout victory.
‎
‎"Dai kami kampante kung nag-abot man sa penalty [shootout] ta makusog man ang kalaban mi sa penalty, saka dai maiiwasan ang pressure," expressed Rodriguez.
