This beautiful blue planet hides a terrifying secret. 💎🌧️
​At first glance, HD 189733 b looks like a peaceful, watery twin of Earth. But don't let the gorgeous cobalt color fool you. Those aren't oceans—that stunning hue comes from a scorching atmosphere filled with silicate particles (the main ingredient in glass).
​Because this "Hot Jupiter" orbits incredibly close to its parent star, temperatures soar to a brutal 930°C (1,700°F). This extreme heat condenses the silicates into actual liquid glass, while violent planetary dynamics unleash supersonic winds screaming at over 8,700 km/h (5,400 mph).
​The result? A world where it literally rains molten glass sideways at seven times the speed of sound.
