Amid the high-stakes Basketball championship game, Aggie-SOE captain Andrew Gaston set the pace. His calm, MVP-winning performance wasn't passive, but a deliberate and disciplined ex*****on of leadership that scored the coalition another victorious season on the court.
Surrounded by a roaring crowd at the XU Gymnasium on October 26, every possession became a battle that threatened to spiral into chaos. But the Aggie-SOE Colossus had an anchor in Gaston, who stepped onto the court and steadied his team.
He led by example, putting up a stat line of 14 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Gaston remained level-headed and steadfast, a true Colossus player who, in the midst of the noise, executed and defended their title as champions.
His impact was clear in the game's most crucial moments. As the SBM Eagles fought back in the third quarter, Gaston halted their momentum with a sneaky layup and later hit a clutch jumper. He capped his performance in the fourth with a key assist for a shot that helped put the game out of reach, 70-62.
While the energy in the gym was electric, Gaston's game was calm, composed, and relentless.
โI reminded everyone to control their emotions. Listen to our coaches, focus on teamwork, and show respect no matter what the outcome is,โ Gaston said, showing his sportsmanship and maturity was the rhythm that the entire team locked into, resulting in a well-coordinated display of teamwork.
