FOR AWARENESS ‼️

- Sexualizing, harassing, or making unwanted sexual remarks toward women in public is Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act or “Bawal Bastos Law.”

This law prohibits gender-based sexual harassment in streets and public spaces, regardless of what the woman is wearing. Prohibited acts include:

* Catcalling
* Wolf-whistling
* Sexual comments or jokes
* Unwanted remarks about a person’s body or appearance
* Leering or intrusive staring
* Making offensive sexual gestures
* Unwanted sexual advances (verbal or physical)
* Groping or other forms of unwanted physical contact
* Persistent requests for personal information or unwanted invitations

If a woman is being sexualized because of her body or outfit while dancing in public, and people make unwanted sexual remarks, gestures, or advances toward her, those acts may fall under RA 11313 if they constitute gender-based sexual harassment. The law protects individuals from harassment regardless of their clothing or appearance.

Stop Sexualizing Women. Respect Comes First.

A woman’s body, clothing, or way of dancing is never an invitation for harassment, objectification, or inappropriate comments. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in public spaces.

Under Republic Act No. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law), gender-based sexual harassment including catcalling, unwanted sexual remarks, and other forms of public sexual harassment—is prohibited.
