Manganawe Shines in Thailand, Claims Gold and Silver in Taekwondo

A shining pride of Quirino, Rhyjan Aldrei Manganawe of the University of Cagayan Valley (UCV), delivered a remarkable performance at the 9th Heroes International Championship held in Pattaya City, Thailand, from July 31 to August 2, 2026.
Manganawe emerged victorious in the Under 55-kilogram Sparring Division, capturing the coveted gold medal through his impressive skill, discipline, and determination. He further showcased his grace, precision, and mastery of the sport by securing a silver medal in the Individual Poomsae category.
The prestigious international tournament brought together talented taekwondo athletes from various countries, making Manganawe’s achievement an even more significant milestone in his growing athletic career. His outstanding performance not only highlighted his personal excellence but also strengthened the representation of the University of Cagayan Valley and contributed to the Philippines’ medal haul in the competition.
Guiding him throughout his preparation and participation were his dedicated coaches, Aaron Robert Binarao and Remar Jun Ancheta, whose unwavering support and mentorship helped bring out the best in the young athlete.
With his exceptional showing in Thailand, Manganawe has once again proven that determination, perseverance, and passion can propel an athlete toward greater heights. The Cabarroguis Badminton Club proudly celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of Dr. Jay Lord Salvador Santos, Master Teacher I of Quirino General High School (QGHS), whose life and career exemplify academic excellence, professional dedication, humility, and meaningful service.

On August 1, 2026, Dr. Santos successfully earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Northeastern College, marking a significant milestone in his journey as an educator, scholar, and lifelong learner. This achievement reflects his unwavering commitment to intellectual growth, continuous professional development, and the pursuit of excellence in the field of education.

Adding distinction to this momentous achievement, Dr. Santos was also honored as a National Awardee for Outstanding Individual in the Field of Education during the 6th Instabright Global Excellence Awards, held at the Heritage Hotel Manila, Pasay City. Indeed, through the Memorandum of Undertaking between Cabarroguis Badminton Club and Quirino General High School, we will build a stronger partnership to develop and strengthen the badminton players of both QGHS and Cabarroguis. This collaboration will promote shared training programs, access to coaching expertise, joint competitions, and talent development pathways that will help our athletes become more competitive at regional, national, and international levels.
