Three years ago today, I dreamed of building a volleyball club in my hometown. What started as just an idea quickly became something moreโsomething that brought excitement, unity, and hope to many. We may come from different walks of life and hold different beliefs, but volleyball brought us together.
The journey hasnโt been easy. There were many challenges, and moments when giving up felt like the easier option. But I held on to the vision. I reached out to people I believed would share that dream. Iโm especially grateful to then newly elected Mayor Fernando โGazoโ Galvez for entrusting me with his support and believing in what we were trying to build. I was truly blessed to be surrounded by individuals who stood by me and this vision.
We organized leagues, invitational tournaments, and one-day events for a causeโall of which showcased the skills and passion of SIVCโs young and talented players. Those moments reminded us why we started in the first place.
To all the sponsors who extended their supportโyour generosity has meant the world. You helped turn a dream into reality, and no words will ever be enough to express my gratitude.
At one point, there were even talks that the San Ildefonso Volleyball Club (SIVC) wouldnโt survive after I stepped away. But here we are, three years laterโstill standing, still growing, still fighting for something we love. It hasnโt always been easy, but because of the people who continue to believe in me and in this club, we carry on.
To those who parted ways with us because we didnโt share the same directionโI am still deeply thankful to you. You challenged me to reflect, to grow, and to become better for this club and as a person.
To all the current officers and loyal membersโplease continue what we all started. Embrace the values and spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, and keep the love for the sport alive in everything you do.
To all of us at SIVCโthank you from the bottom of my heart. This journey is ours. Hereโs to everything weโve overcome, and to everything that still lies ahead. Cheers!
