BASIC MOUNTAINEERING COURSE:
We encourage every one to enroll in one of our sports and outdoors courses, one of which is the Basic Mountaineering Course.
The Basic Mountaineering Course is the foundation course in which men and women are initiated into mountaineering (survival is another course).
The objectives of BMC are:
To learn the basic techniques of movement on rock, snow and ice (in the Philippines though we have no snow and ice, we have a lot of water even on top of our hills, or tropical mountains).
Theoretical and practical aspects of mountaineering and its allied subjects, like Map reading, Navigation, Weather, Medicines,
Mountain Hygiene etc;
To inculcate the right attitude amongst the trainees enabling the participants to view mountaineering as an art and not just a physical or adventure activity.
To motivate people from all walks of life to higher endeavor.
To make available to the trainees, suitable and relevant literature and reading material on mountaineering.
To learn how to make ourselves comfortable and manage their health in the mountain environment.
The Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) is designed for climbers who are just starting out with their mountaineering journey. It is also a great way for the more experienced outdoorsmen/women to partake in re-learning the latest techniques and training modules provided by the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines Inc. (MFPI)
In this 2-day outdoor excursion, we will be able to learn the essentials of Mountaineering in the Philippines and similar tropical regions in Asia. These learnings are part of the primary skills necessary in any type of outdoor activities And shall also be your stepping stone towards learning more advanced wilderness skills and classes we offer.
