Not all “hilot” or bone setting is safe.

The Philippine Orthopaedic Association reminds everyone that “bone setting” done by unlicensed individuals is ILLEGAL and DANGEROUS.

What may seem like quick relief can lead to:
• Permanent disability or paralysis
• Amputation (due to gangrene)
• Bone and joint infections
• Deformity and shortening of limbs
• Early arthritis and chronic pain
• Missed serious conditions (tumors, spine injuries)

Important facts:
• This practice violates the Medical Act (RA 2382)
• Only licensed, board-certified orthopaedic surgeons are trained to treat bone and joint injuries properly
• Social media popularity ≠ medical legitimacy

Protect yourself and your family:
• Seek proper consult for fractures, dislocations, and joint pain
• Verify your doctor’s credentials (PRC / POA)
• Report illegal medical practices

Your bones carry you for life—don’t risk them. Choose safe, evidence-based care.

Summer = more lakad, sports, beach trips… pero mas mataas din risk ng ankle injuries.

Kapag na-“twist” ang paa, hindi ibig sabihin na simpleng sprain lang. Minsan kahit nakakakalakad ka pa, puwede pa ring may fracture—kaya importante magpa-check.

Kapag na-injure ang ankle:
• Mag-ice compress para mabawasan ang pamamaga
• I-immobilize (iwas galaw hangga’t maaari)
• Iwas muna sa bigat o pag-apak
• Magpa-consult para ma-rule out ang serious injury

Huwag balewalain ang tuloy-tuloy na sakit o pamamaga—mas maagang diagnosis, mas iwas komplikasyon.

Isa sa pinaka-common na injury sa mga bata ay nangyayari kapag nadapa at sumalo gamit ang kamay — tinatawag itong (Fall On an Outstretched Hand).

Pwedeng magdulot ito ng:
• Distal radius (pulso)
• Supracondylar fracture (siko)

Madalas nangyayari habang naglalaro — tumatakbo, nadulas, o natapilok.

Mga dapat bantayan:
• Matinding sakit
• Pamamaga
• Hindi magamit ang kamay o siko
• Deformity

Kapag may ganito, huwag ipilit igalaw — magpatingin agad sa doktor.

Mabuti na ang maagap kaysa lumala ang injury.

Sa mga nakatatanda, ang simpleng pagkahulog—kahit sa loob lang ng bahay—ay maaaring magdulot ng seryosong fractures tulad ng sa pulso, balakang, at gulugod.

• Wrist fracture kadalasan ang unang senyales ng osteoporosis
• Hip fracture maaaring maging life-threatening at kadalasang kailangan ng operasyon
• Spine fractures pwedeng mangyari kahit minimal trauma lang

⚠️ Huwag balewalain ang pagkahulog.
Kapag may pananakit, hirap gumalaw, o deformity — magpatingin agad.

✅ Prevention is key:
• Iwas madulas na sahig
• Gumamit ng support kung kinakailangan
• Magpa-check ng bone health (osteoporosis screening)
