La Liga Aklan is a premiere basketball league in the province of Aklan. It was established on June 10, 2016 on the premise that basketball enthusiasts need an avenue to showcase their talents and to put into action their love for the game. Even though there are several existing leagues province-wide and in every municipality, the purpose of La Liga Aklan is to create an association similar to the
Philippine Basketball Association and Kinds of the Court PH. Thus, on its first stint, only eight (8) teams are allowed to join. These teams have been pre-selected by the founders of the league on the notion that the team owners share the same understanding of the reason why La Liga Aklan was created. La Liga Aklan aims to provide entertainment to the people; entertainment based solely for the love and passion for the game, not for money, betting, or hollow publicity. It is an avenue for basketball coaches, players, and officials to enhance their knowledge and skills and become better at what they do, and to develop the correct attitude when it comes to the sport everyone loves.
