The APEX of soccer in the late seventies and early eighties. I was the president of the wewak soccer association and president of the wewak soccer referees association. Soccer was at its peak. We had eighty teams playing in all division. School boys, under tens, womens divisions, men had two divisions, somare shield was the highlight of the season, under 10 coca cola champions nation wide. All fields in wewak was used. Wewak was 3/4 on the png national soccer league lader. "until some one decided to stage a coup,deta" because they wanted to be paid for running the games. Ever since soccer never picked up again and still have not picked up to any levels
