Regional Youth Games

As we all know, Touch Football is not a common sport in the Highlands Region with only Goroka and Kainantu the only places where the sport is played actively.
However during the Inaugural Highlands Regional Youth Games, few teams from the upper Highlands showed impressive skills.

Inaugural Highland Regional Youth Games ( HRYG) ends on high note.
The Inaugural HRYG ended yesterday on a High note, with thrilling and spectacular performances from rural youths of 20 Districts in the Highlands Region. Alot of great potential and skills were hidden in the rural areas were exposed and brought to the fore, which captured the ire of High Performance Center officials. With male and females were given equal opportunity to complete in all codes and vie for gold medals
The Regional Youth Games is a concept that encompass integral Youth Development, meaning church and cultural activities are also embedded in it. Accordingly, devotins were conducted every morning, cultural contest staged. The Mr & Ms Nipa Kutubu won the cultural contest declaring them as the Mr & Ms HRYGs 2024.
Another added value was the inclusion of disability sports: youths with disability contested in track events and juvenile throw. The RYG is inclusive of the youths with disability. The youths of the region enjoyed true spirit of sportsmanship and reflected the desire to make sports a career. The closing was mixed with alot of fanfare wherein Youth connectivity was given birth. It was closed by PNGSF CEO, Mr Micah James and witnessed by RYG Council Chairman, Joe Itaki.
