Whitehawk - Birdwatching and Conservation

Whitehawk - Birdwatching and Conservation Birdwatching Tours and Conservation Collectively, their work has brought them to all corners of the globe.

Whitehawk was founded by Marta Curti, Angel Muela and Yeray Seminario - three biologists with many years of field experience. The one constant throughout their journeys has been the many people they have met whose passion and sincere concern for the future of birds has had a positive effect on the environment and local communities. The belief that one person or a small group of individuals can make a difference was their inspiration for Whitehawk.

Some of the best moments in nature happen when nothing is guaranteed.

You follow a trail.
You look up.
You listen.

Then the forest begins to reveal its secrets.

A quetzal hidden among the branches.
A monkey moving through the canopy.
The unmistakable loud “bonk” call of a Bellbird echoing through the forest.
A flash of color that disappears as quickly as it appeared.

🌿🐦 Welcome to birding in Panama.

🌎 World Environment Day.

Every journey into nature reminds us of how interconnected life truly is.

From monkeys moving through the forest canopy to the birds, mammals, amphibians, insects, and countless other species we encounter along the way, each plays a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Today, we celebrate the biodiversity that inspires our adventures and the habitats that make these incredible encounters possible.

✨Because protecting nature means protecting the extraordinary web of life that connects us all.

Happy World Environment Day 💚

Birding around the Panama Canal 🇵🇦🪶

Is some of the best Panama has to offer. Time spent here offers the chance for an incredible wildlife experience. It also affords one the opportunity to explore the fascinating history that helped shape Panama’s future, its policies about conservation, and, in part, its culture. 🐒🦋🍃

Yesterday we celebrated Global Big Day in commemoration of World Migratory Bird Day, a day full of learning and connection with nature. 🐦🌎

We were joined by 11th and 12th grade students from Colegio Bilingüe de Tortí, with the support of MEDUCA and the Ministry of Environment of Panamá Este. Special thanks to Lic. Nedelka Rodríguez, as well as Fray Michael and Fray Robinson for their support at Reserva San Francisco.

It was a very productive day where we were able to observe around 160 species and share knowledge with people interested in this beautiful activity. 🪶✨

Every new generation connected to birds is another step toward protecting our natural heritage. 💚

One of the true icons of Guatemala’s cloud forests 🌿🪶

The Horned Guan is one of the most unique and sought-after species in Central America, found only in high mountain cloud forests.

Sadly, this incredible species is considered Endangered, making every observation even more meaningful.

A huge thank you to Germán and especially to the local guide from the area, whose knowledge made this unforgettable experience possible.

🇬🇹 Guatemala truly surprised us!

BEE-EATERS 🐝

One of our favorites from Africa 🌍🪶

Bee-eaters are elegant aerial predators, often seen perched as they wait for the perfect moment to launch into flight.

As their name suggests, they feed mainly on bees and wasps — skillfully removing the stinger before consuming their prey.

They are commonly found in savannas and open forests, using exposed branches as lookout points before heading out on quick hunting flights.

Many species are highly social, nesting in colonies where they dig burrows in sandy banks — sometimes with the help of other group members.

✨ A perfect combination of color, behavior, and precision in motion.
