Shots from Adya Adwitiya’s solo performance at the Odissi international in Bhuwaneshwar.
These pictures had me overwhelmed. Not just because it’s her first ever solo performance but because Adya was one of my first students when I began this journey. She spoke less and observed more, expressed little but absorbed more. And over the years, I have come to learn that it is her quiet perseverance that make her push her limits and astonish me each time.
Her calls before and after this performance are evidence of the beautiful bond we share. While I wasn’t there for your first solo, I know you carried my love and blessings with you. Here’s to many many more 💕

A week of staying active…What functional training for a dancer looks like. Keeping it slow and intentional each day has helped me stay injury free in my practice.
Plates on my belly, ankle weights of my wrist, .sarkhel_pilatesfit finds incredible ways to make me push my limits everyday. NO MERCY!
Watch till the end for a guest appearance 😄

There’s a joy that only dancers know about. It’s a feeling only we experience. It’s a gush of warmth you feel when u walk into a dance studio. The feeling of familiarity and restfulness. Meeting at the .sg studio felt like a big warm hug from a long lost friend. ♥️
Engaging conversations, sharing performance and teaching experiences and admiring each others unique journey; these are moments we live for.
I left feeling enriched and inspired by this beautiful artist.
Chowk is located in the Aliwal art center amidst multiple dance and creative studios. Like everything else in Singapore, art centers are all about creating community. A space to support artists in their creative journey. Marking my last leg of travel and dancer visits, I can safely say, I’ve had a summer to cherish forever 😇

We finally met! Years back when I started to follow I wondered how she managed to keep her social media presence so engaging. While many dancers separate life from their dance world, Nayantara kept things organic and real throughout. As her dance school grew, so did she, becoming a mother to a beautiful boy and then a fur baby mom. Relocating to Singapore and moving back and forth for performances and workshops. I’ve followed her all along and when we actually did meet we slipped right into deep dance conversation like we’ve always known each other. There’s so much power in connecting with artists who live life as if they always knew the plan but keep themselves open for life to happen.
We spoke just as much as we ate and found a beautiful Muscat connection that we share. Dance can feel isolating sometimes. But meetups like this reassure you that we still have so much to offer and so much to learn along the way. Thanks for a lovely morning Nayantara. You now have a home in Muscat to transit through during your next trip 😊

One of many gifts dance brings to my life is the people I have met along the way. I call myself a dancer proudly and loudly because of how much i aspire to be like them. Aapa personifies the large hearted dancer I dream to be. Ah hour with her left me humbled by all the learnings and well fed with the snacks and best coffee I have had in a while. I feel privileged to be able to connect on such a human level with artists. Thank u Aapa for opening up your home and heart to me.
Madhulita Aapa is the founder of the Academy of fine arts. She runs multiple centers in Bangalore keeping the city rich with her creativity, performances and talented students.
