We’re a bit late to the party, but here’s your Game Day Preview – Women’s Edition 👀

Our Women are running it back for the third straight year.

They’ll be competing in a tournament style format, meaning two games in one day... a bit like some of their split personalities 🫣🤣

First up, they take on the Natives, a rematch of last year's Grand Final. Then they back it up against the Moerewa Tigers.

Well, definitely not Sian Telfer or Missy Mangu.

Somehow these two always find themselves on the injury list. A little less F45 and a few more road runs might help, girls 🤣

The Hebden-Salase Sisters

Kahlani and Mia join the squad this year. They may be two of the youngest players in the team, but they bring plenty of big game experience from their junior representative football.

Expect both girls to have huge tournaments and help lead the team around the park.

To Jocelyn Henry-Salu, who was all "Yo The Knights!" during her Warriors interview, only to head back to the Tigers this year 🙄

Round 6 - top of the table clash between OT Knights and Moerewa Tigers.
Our Men will be out for revenge after their last minute loss to the Tigers in the first round.
Expect this one to be fiery straight away, discipline and calm heads will be key early on.

Enter, Linn Hunapo-Cork 😋

His leadership and calmness under pressure will help steady the boys.
He was missed last weekend, standing himself down under concussion protocols after a self diagnosis 🤕🤣
Turns out he was fine, leading the team into town and eventually the back of a paddy wagon 🙃
Word from our highly unreliable sources tell us pepper spray was involved and our outside backs - Ridge and Petera - showed more speed escaping the scene than they did on the field 🤣

Player Watch: James Viau aka Misi aka dox aka doko 👑

A club favourite, don’t mistake Misi’s luscious locks and pearly whites as weakness.
He will smile at you and slam you into the ground at the same time 😤
His runs off the back fence are elite but his Kanikani skills on the D-Floor is what he’s best known for 🕺

Game Day Preview 😬

Round 5
Last game of the first round and our Knights Men take on the Portland Panthers.
Games between these two clubs are always physical, the kind where the hits get talked about for years after. A couple that still live rent free in our heads is when the BADDEST of them all, Mike Salase 👑 absolutely folded Cyris Edwards. Eyewitnesses reckon he rolled himself into the recovery position afterwards 🤣
And more recently, we only know him as “Sole Pete” sent Daley Johnson on a free trip to Disneyland. Leaving him face down in the dirt, giving Papatūānuku a respectful hongi 😬

Safe to say, expect more of the same tomorrow.

Player watch? Nah, Coach watch this week 👀

Monz Kucharne jumped off the waka after coaching Portland last season and made his way to OT, bringing a new dimension to the Knights system and a strong presence on game day.

On the other side, new Portland coach Kurtis Tito. After a slow start to their season, he’ll be looking to help get them back on track this weekend. Rumour has it he had hair at the start of the season 🤣

Both coaches bring plenty of knowledge and experience, and both will play a huge role in how this clash unfolds.
