Meet Charlie the Kaimanawa- after having a bit of a yarn here’s the story and we’re pretty certain about it.

26 years ago in 1993 New Zealand has its first Kaimanawa muster and Charlie’s mother was bought in and transported to no other than Grants father’s place where he was born shortly after!

He was broken in then sold and has has found his way to a fabulous home where he is set to live out the rest of his life- we hear he’s still full of life and is known to put himself on the float when he knows there’s somewhere to go.

How awesome is it that, 26 years on and here he is getting shod by Grant!

Becky the broodmare was well overdue for a trim as well as a few others and we were very lucky to have young Stella holding onto her for Grant- what a fantastic job she did!

There’s been some changes in regards to us being made essential.

Please be aware that as stated that this is not “business as usual “ and we’re still in level 4.

If your horses welfare is comprised please make contact to discuss further, we don’t want this lockdown to extend anymore than you and take our clients and our own health very seriously.

Keep safe everyone!

Unfortunately farriers have been deemed non essential unless referred by a vet.

We had planned to continue working with certain safety measures in place but unfortunately we won’t be able to for the time being.

As it stands now if anyone has urgent or important farriery work that needs doing you will need to contact your vet to get this done.

Stay safe everyone and give your horse/pony/donkey a pat from us, we’ll be impatiently waiting to get back working and look forward to seeing you again when this all blows over!

A client of ours- Aimee, got married earlier in the year and rode in on her lovely thoroughbred Cracker.

We were happy to do our bit and have him shod and ready to play his very important role in the wedding.

They also used old horseshoes for decorations and table numbers so who knows, your horses old shoes could have attended the wedding too!
