🐴 A Riding Session at EBOP RDA🐴
On Mondays to Thursdays, our Arena is where the magic happens ✨ Here’s a sneak pic of what’s going on during our sessions at EBOP RDA 🙌
During our riding sessions, we welcome groups of children and adults with physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges from around the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Our purpose is to provide interaction with horses to develop increased ability, independence and self-worth.
Did you know? Hippotherapy (aka horse therapy) is a form of physical, occupational and speech therapy that used horse movement to develop and enhance neurological and physical functioning by channeling the movement of the horse.
Equine therapy helps build:
🔹 Emotional awareness
🔹 Social skills
🔹 Focus and behavior
🔹 Confidence
🔹 Trust and empathy
🔹 Problem solving skills
🔹 Speech

🐴 Benefits of horse riding therapy🐴
There is strong evidence from scientific research of the benefits of horse therapy. Participation in our sessions sees riders increase in confidence, improve their balance and strength, and learn horse mastership skills. Others may reach independence and be able to enjoy riding as a recreation or sport. The skills they learn will spill over into everyday life.
🧒 For the young of age with a physical disability this not only means physical therapy appropriate to their condition, but the opportunity to partake of an activity that crosses physical barriers and gives them a mobility more in keeping with able bodied children their own age.

👩‍🦱 Children with a non-physical disability such as those diagnosed with the Autistic Spectrum Disorder also benefit from the physical aspects of riding but for them the relationship with the horse comes to the fore.
👨‍🦱 Our adult riders who may be dealing with the day to day struggles of a debilitating disease encompass all of the above; and for all of our riders it can mean a massive boost in confidence and self- esteem.
We are honored to be able to provide such opportunity for our community. It certainly does take a village. Thank you 💙

The Eastern Bay of Plenty Riding for the Disabled Association would like to extend their gratitude to some generous local individuals, small businesses and bigger organisations. 🙏
The rising costs of living are causing our budgets to be stretched. 🤕 It is in times like these, that our small chapter needs the most support. We understand that it does not only affects us, so we are highly appreciative of every donation we receive.
Did you know? Grants and donations represent more than 65% of our total revenue. Without the incredible support of our community, we would simply be unable to keep our doors open.
