🌟 A very proud moment for Swim City! 🌟

Swim City, Hutt City Council, were very honoured to be showcased on TVNZ 1News last night for our collaboration with Autism Swim and the work we are doing to create more inclusive and supportive swimming opportunities for neurodiverse children.

Our Autism Swim journey has been about more than completing a qualification. It has been about giving our instructors the knowledge, confidence and understanding to adapt lessons to each individual child and help them develop essential water safety skills in a way that works for them.

A huge thank you to our wonderful instructors, our families and, most importantly, the children who inspire us every day. 💙

We are incredibly proud of what our team has achieved and excited about continuing this important work to help make swimming and water safety more accessible to everyone.

Thank you TVNZ 1News and Charlie Dreaver for helping us share the story and shine a light on the importance of water safety for neurodiverse children.

🏊‍♀️💙 Everyone deserves the opportunity to learn to be safe and confident around water.

Many neurodiverse children have a special attraction to water. Now researchers, councils and advocates are working to find ways to teach water safety skills.

We aren’t just lifeguards! 😂

Well… that’s what we tell ourselves anyway.

Our job is definitely more than just sitting in a chair and watching the pool. Depending on the situation, we’re also police officers breaking up kids fights, paramedics when things go wrong, scientists testing the water and tour guides helping people find their way around👮‍♀️🩺🧪🗺️

Are we actually qualified to be any of those things? Absolutely not 🤡

But for the purposes of this video, we’ll pretend we are 😅

We’re officially halfway through the Te Ngaengae Gym Bingo Challenge! 💪

Running from the start of August through to the end of September, this is your chance to get moving, connect with our trainers, and have some fun along the way.

Complete your challenges and mark your squares. How many can you tick off over the two months?

Finish 2 lines to be in the draw to win a mystery prize. Tackle half the card to be in the draw to win a 3-month membership and if you complete the whole card you go in the draw to win a 6-month membership! 🪎

The Stokes Valley Fitness Suite is currently closed until further notice due to essential repairs. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while these repairs are completed. As always, members can continue to access the fitness suites at Huia Pool and Te Ngaengae Pool.

We’re basically besties now… anyway, that’ll be $7.60 please 🤝💳😂

Customer service is all about making people feel welcome, having a laugh and creating a great experience from the moment they walk through the doors… even if we do have to ask for payment eventually 😅

Whether it’s a friendly chat at reception, helping you find the right lesson, or simply wishing you a great swim, our team loves getting to know our community (and yes, we still have to remember to do the admin part too!)
