P.I.C Netball Club

P.I.C Netball Club PIC Netball Club has produced many Silver Ferns and players who have represented the Cook Islands, England, Samoa, Scotland and Tokelau.

PIC Netball Club originated from the Pacific Islands Presbyterian Church, Newtown, Wellington NZ in 1953, to provide for the spiritual and recreational needs of its growing population. Our coaches also have coached national teams including the Silver Ferns, Cooks Islands, England and Samoa. We are Wellington Region's Premier Netball Club, that continually produces results, though never forgets our roots and those that went before us.

HUGE congratulations to PIC stalwarts George and Pelesa who received their Service Award and Life Membership respectively last night at the Netball Wellington Centre AGM. Two deserving recipients who have not only dedicated many voluntary hours to our club but also to Netball Wellington Centre, Netball Central Zone, NZ Netball and our Pacific sisters in Samoa, Tonga and Cook Islands.

We are so proud of you both for this amazing recognition and thank you both for your service to our game and our community!

We are delighted to welcome four new 2025 NWC Service Award recipients plus one new Life Member to our fold during celebrations at our AGM last night! Kudos goes to our clever members who used their many charms to ensure these unsuspecting souls were present to hear the impressive number of achievements and accolades notched up throughout their years of service. Each were humble in their acceptance, reiterating a common message of merely going about their business, doing what they do, for the love of netball.

Congratulations to our new Service Award holders:
β€’ Samantha Hannah (Wellington Girls' College/East Netball)
β€’ Amelia Wheeler (NWC Umpires Group)
β€’ George Metuarau (P.I.C Netball Club)
β€’ Maria Nunns (Wellington West Netball Satellite)
Congratulations to our latest Life Member:
β€’ Pelesa Semu (PIC P.I.C Netball Club, St Mary's College Wellington, Oriental Rongotai Netball Club)
Thank you for your ongoing dedication to our beloved sport! πŸ’›πŸ–€

The PIC Netball Club is incredibly saddened to share news about the passing of our beloved mate Maria Noanoa, supporter of our club for many years and coach of our PIC 3 team this season.

Maria gave so much of her time to netball and was known as a kind, compassionate coach who always had her players front of mind.

Maria left a lasting impression on many of our younger netball players in particular, as someone who was committed to development, upskilling and ensuring that players had a good experience.

Maria, with the hours you spent coaching at P.I.C Netball Club, Ikaroa ki ti Tonga, SMOG, Vic Uni and the Netball Wellington Centre representative programme, you leave a massive hole, and we will never forget you.

Our love goes out to her husband, her children, her extended family and friends. Thank you for sharing Maria with our community.

Forever in our hearts Maria. Rest easy.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7

For those who would like to pay their respects to Maria, her funeral service will be on Monday 13th October, Gee & Hickton Chapel, Corner of Knights Road and Cornwell Street, Lower Hutt. Hakari (shared meal) to follow at Wainuiomata Marae.

For those wishing to send koha, please find bank details for Maria's daughter Logo below:
