Kainui Bike Park is currently closed. There has been significant flood damage to the Tasman's Great Taste Trail which has affected both the Wai-iti and Quail Valley entry/exit points to Kainui. Please be patient and respect all closures.

Our thoughts are with all our community who have been affected by the relentless weather our region has faced over the past couple of weeks.

This means that Kainui Bike Park is unable to be reached as both our public access points are closed due to the damage from the Wai-iti River. This will allow us time to check the conditions of the tracks and for the sunshine to do its thing. Will keep everyone posted.

‼️IMPORTANT NOTICE‼️

Saturday 22nd April - Thinners in Kainui

Due to recent windfall damage there will be thinners clearing trees on Buckwheater Bends and Way Down West trails this Saturday.

There will be signs in the areas being worked on as well as a spotter who will stop riders when chainsaws are in use. Please be patient and respect these workers and the job they are doing.

Please also consider the rainfall we have had and the effects this will have on our tracks. If in doubt give it a day or two for things to dry up (as long as the rain stops!).

Cheers
The Kainui crew

Trail Update: Exciting news, we now have an additional section of 'Way Down West' open which allows you to connect back onto 'Up, Up & Away' (see left arrow on map). This means you can do some laps of the top section before you come down to Beehive Hub. Just remembering that Way Down West is a grade 3 trail.

So now your options are:
* Option 1: Up, Up & Away, down Buckwheater Bends (Gr2) to Beehive Hub (no change)

* Option 2: Up, Up & Away, down Buckwheater Bends (Gr2), then onto Way Down West (Gr3, see map) and back up Up, Up & Away (Gr2 uphill, see map).

* Option 3: Up, Up & Away, down Way Down West, then onto Buckwheater Bends to Beehive Hub (no change)

* Option 4: Up, Up & Away, down Way Down West, then exit to Up, Up and Away and do another lap or do option 1, 2, or 3

Please be mindful that there is a small section connecting Way Down West to Buckwheater Bends that is now two-way. Please be careful of other users as this isn't a wide section.

We also now have additional signage in place on these trails so you know where you are going and also 'wrong way' signage.

Thank you to the trail crew for getting this section completed to provide us with additional riding options at Kainui Bike Park
