To our community,
People always ask me why I play rugby and my answer is normally because I love it, and don’t get me wrong I really do love it but there are some deeper reasons why and I’m going to share them with you.
Rugby has given me the opportunity to make incredible lifelong friends, it’s opened doors to people I would have never had the pleasure of rubbing shoulders with otherwise.
It’s taught me mental toughness, never give up no matter how tired or sore you are, theres a prize at the end if you keep going.
It’s taught me discipline and consistency and the value in showing up every day, every week, for your club, your mates and yourself.
It’s let me see the wonder of mothers in sports, the way we take care of our home and our babies and still make it onto the field to do something we love it’s honestly so incredible.
Why am I telling you all of this you may ask ?
Well, the future for the central wahine is getting dimmer every day, we are staring down the barrel of folding indefinitely, straight up losing a team so many of us have put our hearts and souls into establishing and I’ll be dammed if I go down without a good fight.
We have 4 more games left for the year starting round 2 June 13th, 1 month of commitment. We need some more ladies, girls who a new and just keen for a jam, girls who have played and think they are not fit enough, we need you. This is not about winning or losing for us, this is about keeping the dream alive, keeping our home and letting central rugby be a home for our younger generation.
