We've been asked to make a monthly contribution to the local newspaper, The Featherston Phoenix. This report on our recent Kunai seminar was our first installment. Looking forward to continuing with this monthly opportunity. Meanwhile, Shawn has also been asked to do an interview for a local fanzine, Beneath The Underdog, which is expected to hit the press soon.

Happy 60th Birthday to our mighty leader, Head Instructor, and founder — Sensei Allan Youl🥋🎉

Sensei Allan started training at 8 years old and founded Kapiti Karate Academy right here on the Kapiti Coast in February 2014. For over a decade he has poured his time, energy, and heart into serving our local community through Shotokan karate, self-defence, weapons, and Little Tigers classes.

We’re more than a club — we’re a karate family — and Sensei Allan has been the steady leader and mentor at the centre of that. From building classes from the ground up, to guiding students from their very first lesson through to black belt, he has created a place where people of all ages can grow in confidence, discipline, fitness, and character.
