THE SURFING JOURNEY IS THE WHOLE POINT
The Vault - CURL mag issue 29 / 2011
I found this wee snippet on page 12 of an old CURL mag .
I got pretty fired up after watching a stellar performance at Snapper this last week by all the girls.
For me, having my own kids and being in the surf industry when my daughter was born, I love seeing women coming back into their sports after they have started a family .
I bet back in 2011, never dreamed of being back on tour after having a baby in 2026.
I found this wee interview by .dickinson

Carissa Moore
“I’m still trying to figure out the formula. I’m just embracing every moment, good and bad. It isn’t about the destination. It’s the journey.”
That is surfing.
The figuring out IS the surfing.
The sessions where nothing clicks.
The morning you finally feel that one turn and feel it properly…Then lose it again for two weeks. Then find that feeling again, even better.
That’s not failure. That’s the whole sport.
Carissa is still in it, she has started another journey as a Mum, travelling on tour with her family.
But we are all on our surfing journey as well.
After 25 years I still have sessions that humble me completely… a lot …
The destination doesn’t exist. There’s just the next wave in the next set.
