Seth Devereux

32 years young.
I love coming to Greymouth whenever I can, for a range of different reasons, mostly because street racing is a dying facet of our spectacular sport sadly, and one that is really sensational as a spectator and rider. I’ve been to the Greymouth Street Race as both a Spectator and rider. It’s a great layout for both, with lots of great vantage points for watching and a fun mix of tight and fast pieces as a rider.
Probably the most fun I’ve had at Greymouth was fighting with Dale for wins in formula Greymouth on the MV Agusta 675, which I think sounded surreal echoing between the buildings, and more recently winning formula Greymouth on my old Kawasaki that I’ve had since I was 19.
I’ve been coming to Greymouth (on and off) since approximately 2011, racing motards, F1, F2 and BEARS.
I was born and raised in Tapanui which used to have a nearby street race, Wyndham, which was part of the Burt Munro, it was later moved to Invercargill where it wasn’t the same or nearly as good. I try to support Greymouth as much as I can because it is such a great event, the racing, the fan interaction and the many after match dysfunctions!
Currently building a new bike and have every intention of debuting it at the Greymouth Street Race.
I want to encourage future racers, help kids to race and to enjoy the experience of Street Racing.
One day I’m going to make it onto that tee shirt!

Cheers Seth 👍

Spent the weekend playing on the big bike. 1299cc with the rider aid off. Silly fun. Nearly sent myself to the moon twice but kept her shiny and now I’ve got a year to polish some crockery. ❤️ SD11

On paper, similar results to previous rounds. In reality , a huge step forward. We managed to overcome some hurdles with the machinery and find a chunk of the pace we were missing this weekend.
Sadly for me it highlighted how far my form has slumped on the bike and gave me a reality check regarding my fitness. Honestly I felt like I got the results I deserved. I had put a lot of effort into the mechanical aspect of the motorcycle over the last 6 months but not enough into my body or riding, it showed. On the up side, the bike is working quite well and went in the trailer shiny. I’m 12/12 finishes this season. Possibly the only competitor to do so. Which is wild. We have a month to prepare for the Burt Munro challenge and for the first time this season, I’m genuinely looking forward to it.
Saturday morning really felt like day one for us. The bike was behaving the way we all expected it to from the beginning but unfortunately hadn’t been the case. So that said, we can now begin. I enjoyed being able to focus on my accuracy and feeling on the bike. I need to progress with my vision and trust. For the first time this season, my confidence is growing.
Vince, Durham, Goddards, Youngs, thank you so much. ❤️SD11

All the major adjustments are organic from here on in. For some reason I think that might be even harder. Let’s get it.

This season so far has been tough, rewarding, frustrating, testing, occasionally satisfying. It has definitely shown me the value of the people around me. Kev and Terry, Vince, Fi, Durham, Tim, Hayden, Dennis, Rod and many more. I’ve been ready to throw it in repeatedly and these people have stuck by me, encouraged me, supported me, believed in me and what we are doing and I’m mostly just appreciative.
I’ve never gone this slow. I’ve never worked this hard. I’ve never had so many endless small hurdles. I’ve also never finished so many races weirdly.
I’ve also never appreciated my old .nz Kawasaki so much for its ability to just always start and complete sessions. Yeah it could do with a better motor or some more bling (fork cartridges would be a good start), but she always gets it done.
Today was a break through day. We unlocked some potential in the Ducati and hopefully put a gremlin that’s been plaguing us to rest. I’m excited and also nervous about tomorrows potential. Qualifying and one race. It’s weird hopefully coming good whilst many others have fallen to the attrition battle that is . Anyways here’s some snaps of me looking faster than I have been. Thanks for all the chats, comments, hugs, messages. It has literally carried me through this tough period.
Time to shift up a gear. SD11

On paper it was a decent weekend, claimed some solid points, both bikes went in the trailer shiny.

I rode well, still some work to do on my own confidence and body position, I guess that comes with the territory (two spinal injuries in the last 18months) but on the whole measured and sensible.

I felt like I could’ve done a much better job on the setup. Went to too far one way in the wet and left myself a tough bike to ride. And the Ducati was, well, a new Ducati. It’s fun to ride, and pretty, but i needed to finish it sooner and test more before trying to race it at this level.

I cannot say enough good things for my crew. Vince, Kev, Terri, Dennis. You guys were awesome. Never missed a trick. I am unbelievably lucky. Grateful. Thank you.

See you next weekend ❤️SD11

On track placing - 8th
Prettiest bike awards - P1

It’s been a big push and sacrifice to get to today.
I’ve been doing so much that I am actually less exhausted after two days on track than I was before.

This little Ducati is proving a little tricky to tame but we are inching closer each time we ride it.

Bit of rain forecast for tomorrow. Pretty good chance of this Ducati looking a lot like an old ZX6 if it does…
