Awesome mahi team kina - 5th fastest in the World..but this photo doesn’t show everything it took to get there!
It doesn’t show the early mornings, late nights, time on the water & tired bodies.
It doesn’t show the whānau holding everything together at home so these boys could train.
The raffles. The fundraising. The messages. The meetings. The organising. The chasing sponsors. The flights, accommodation, uniforms, gear and a million little things that somehow had to come together.
It doesn’t show the people behind the scenes giving their time, money, energy and aroha…asking for nothing back except the chance to see their people succeed.
Getting six men and a waka from little old Northland all the way to the World Champs in Singapore was already a mission.
Then they went out there and became the 5th fastest crew in the WORLD. That result belongs to the boys in the waka.
But it also belongs to every partner, kid, parent, whānau member, sponsor, supporter and person who bought a raffle, shared a post, donated, organised, cooked, drove, covered the kids or simply said “yup, what do you need?”
We are all very proud of you, it’s a buzz to see our club represented there 🔥
