Kia ora e te whānau,

Due to the wild moods of Cyclone Vaianu, the Club Committee sent out comms to the Coaches yesterday confirming that all club waka are grounded from Friday 5pm through to Monday. Safety first, always.

We want to thank everyone who showed up this morning to help move all the club waka to protect them over the weekend, we appreciate you all.

⚠️ WEATHER HEADS UP
Heavy rain, strong winds, flooding risks, and large coastal swells are expected. With the ground already saturated, things can escalate quickly.

🚨 MITI CLUB UPDATE 🚨

With the severe weather warnings currently in place across Te Tai Tokerau, all Club Waka are to be GROUNDED today (Wednesday) and Thursday ⛔

This decision has been made in line with the latest updates from MetService New Zealand, including:
🔴 Red Heavy Rain Warning (east coast areas including Whangārei)
🟠 Orange Strong Wind & Heavy Rain Warnings

💨 With forecast winds up to 120km/h and
🌧️ Heavy rainfall building into Thursday–Friday,
conditions on the water will be unsafe and unpredictable.

What this means:
• ❌ No paddling or waka on the water
• ❌ No club training sessions
• ✅ Prioritise safety of all paddlers and equipment

📅 Next steps:
The Club Executives will reassess conditions on Friday and provide a further update once it is safe to do so.

Please use this time to:
✔️ Secure waka and gear
✔️ Check on your whānau
✔️ Stay up to date with official weather and civil defence updates

Your safety always comes first. The ocean will be there next week.

Stay safe out there,
Mitamitaga Club Executives

**RAFFLE DRAW & PAYMENT REMINDER**

Kia ora Miti Whānau - thank you to everyone who has supported this kaupapa.

Quick reminder that this raffle unfortunately does not accept Afterpay 😅

If you’ve secured your number/tickets but the payment is still on a “pay later” plan in your head, now’s the time to bring that forward so we can actually draw the prizes haha

We are hoping to draw this afternoon or Thursday the latest.

62km… just a casual paddle right? 😅

Massive shoutout to everyone who took on The 62 Coastal Challenge from Mangawhai to Matapouri Bay 🌊

Dreamed up by Kraig Cornwall (bit of a mad genius move there), and brought to life with the awhi of the Moana Nui whānau and paddlers from all over Aotearoa including a few of our own Miti crew 👀

Big love to Brian Dodd for putting in the mahi behind the camera so we can all relive the pain… I mean, the glory 🎥😂
