🚛 FAIRLIE FRIDAY IS ON!

Another Friday, another excuse to put Keen As Tyres to the test!

Cody's heading Fairlie way tomorrow, and if anyone around Geraldine needs a hand, we might just have a reason to send him your way too!

Farm tyres, truck tyres, punctures, inspections or those niggly little jobs you've been meaning to sort. Now's a good time to get them ticked off.

Meanwhile, Shaun and Rach will actually be in the Washdyke workshop. Both of us. At the same time. Miracles do happen! 😂

We've been getting out, meeting new faces and having some pretty awesome conversations with farms and businesses around South Canterbury lately.

We're loving hearing how people operate, what they need and where we can make their lives a little easier.

And one thing we're always keen on? The opportunity to prove ourselves.

🚜 YOUR TRACTOR'S GOT A FLAT. DOESN'T MEAN YOUR WHOLE DAY HAS TO!

Did you know that in many cases, we can have a standard tractor puncture repaired and have you rolling again in just 30–90 minutes of getting started?

Yep, really! No unnecessary wheel removal, no carting tyres backwards and forwards, and no turning a simple puncture into a full-blown mission.

Here's how we do things at Keen As.

You give us a bell, we come to you, assess the damage and, if it's a straightforward repair, we get stuck in right there on farm.

✅ No loading wheels up
✅ No unnecessary downtime
✅ No taking a tractor wheel off unless absolutely necessary!

Because if we can repair it safely and properly on the machine, why make life harder than it needs to be?

Of course, not every puncture is a quick fix. Some tyres need more involved repairs or vulcanising, and we've got the gear and expertise for that too.

But our approach is pretty simple.

Repair first where practical. Less downtime. Less mucking around. No BS.

Word's getting around about how we do things at Keen As. But don't just take everyone else's word for it.

Well, day one of the latest Washdyke roadworks and we're already getting creative! 😂

First up, a massive thank you to Andrew for this lovely shoutout. It genuinely means a lot when someone takes the time to recommend our little business, especially when we're just doing what we reckon any good business should do. Looking after our customers!

With Meadows Road now effectively one-way, getting to our workshop involves a few more road cones and potentially a scenic tour of Washdyke.

BUT the good news is, we're still pretty easy to find!

If you're coming to see us, the easiest option is to head along to the Seadown Road traffic lights, turn right onto Seadown Road, right onto Meadows Road and follow it down to Sheffield Street.

There are a few roadworks along Seadown Road too, so just allow a little extra time.

And if navigating all those cones isn't your idea of a good time, please don't let it put you off booking in!

Today we had a customer who needed to get to work and had a WOF appointment to make. Rather than have her battle the detours and risk running late, we changed the plan and collected her vehicle instead.

That's the thing about being a small, owner-operated business. We can be flexible, think outside the box and work around our customers where we can.

We're not promising to run a free taxi service around South Canterbury 😂 but if collecting your vehicle or making alternative arrangements fits around our day, we're more than happy to help.

The last thing we want is for anyone to feel stressed or uncomfortable trying to get to us.

We're still open, still operating and still doing things the Keen As way.

We can't move the road cones, but we can certainly try to make your life a little easier!

And if you do get lost, give us a bell. We'll point you in the right direction.

We take all sorts around here.

And that's just the customers. 😂

You know that collection of tyres sitting behind the shed that you'll "get around to sorting one day"?

Well, one of our Twizel customers decided today was the day!

The son was heading into Timaru, so naturally he got volunteered for tyre delivery duty. A whole collection landed at Keen As headquarters for us to work our way through.

No jobs booked up that way at the moment, so rather than send the tyre truck on a sightseeing trip to Twizel, we're sorting them here.

It's not always about us coming to you. Sometimes it's about working out what makes the most sense for everyone.

And there's a few ways we can make that happen!

You can drop your tyres into the workshop, wave Shaun down when you see the truck (yes, people actually do this 😂), or ring him and tell him to turn around because he's just driven past your driveway. Wouldn't be the first time!

Or, here's a wild idea... we can actually plan ahead!

Let us know what you've got needing attention and we'll pop you on the list for the next time we're heading through your neck of the woods.

We can give you a call when we're planning the run to make sure it suits, or if you've given us all the details and access we need, we can just get in, get it done and get out of your hair. You don't even have to be home!

Less mucking around, less unnecessary travel costs, and one less thing on that never-ending farm to-do list.

That's the Keen As way.

Haha you’re telling us 😂 The amount of school-girl politics in the tyre industry would actually blow your mind.

We are not one to enjoy politics and we only follow what we need to as most of what you read or hear is complete nonsense

Anyway on to the topic at hand 😬

Now that we have been growing steadily in the tyre game you would not believe the politics that run with it 🤣

It’s absolutely horrendous but extremely entertaining!

I actually don’t have to say anything more because between ourselves and AI 🤖 the cartoon speaks for itself 😝

Pivot tyre season is coming 👀
We’ve got pivot tyres in stock and ready to go, and we’re also booking pivot checks before things get busy.
A quick check now can save a whole lot of mucking around later. We can check pressures, tyre condition, cracking, damage and anything else looking a bit questionable before irrigation season is properly underway.
If something needs sorting, we can repair where appropriate or get replacement tyres organised so you’re not dealing with it when you actually need the pivot moving.
If you want us to come through and give yours a once-over, get in touch and we’ll add you to the run.

Cold calling is rough.

There, we said it 😂

We know not everyone loves getting a call from a business they weren’t expecting, and honestly, we don’t love making them either.

But when you’re a small business trying to grow, apparently sitting in the workshop crossing your fingers and hoping everyone magically discovers you isn’t a recognised marketing strategy.

So here we are, just trying to make our way through this slightly terrifying school yard called the tyre industry 😂

Cody makes calls.
We send emails.
We pop in and introduce ourselves.

Sometimes we get a lovely chat.
Sometimes a polite “nah, we’re happy where we are.”
And sometimes we get told to f**k off.

Which, look, definitely gets the message across 😂

We’re realistic. We know we’re not going to win everyone, and we genuinely don’t expect to. If you love the tyre company you already use, bloody awesome. Loyalty is a good thing.

We’re not trying to kick over anyone’s sandcastle.

We just want you to know we’re here.

Because maybe one day your usual guy can’t get to you.
Maybe you need someone after hours.
Maybe you want another price.
Maybe you need someone happy to head a bit further up the road.
Or maybe you’ve just been quietly watching us for a while wondering what we’re actually like to deal with.

In that case, don’t wait for Cody to awkwardly cold call you 😂

Message us.
Email us.
Send a carrier pigeon.

We’re really not fussy.

We’re just a small local business trying to find our place, do good work, look after people properly and hopefully earn a few more customers along the way.

And we promise, “no thanks” is absolutely a complete sentence.

Apparently our school workshops are working because Holly came in today with a bald tyre and a diagnosis ready to go 😂

She thought she might need an alignment.

Shaun had a look and nope. Just the classic front-left-wearing-faster situation made worse by not rotating the tyres regularly.

Her other front technically still had a bit of life left too, about 1mm before replacement territory, so we told her exactly that.

No “you need two tyres immediately.”
No mystery workshop language.
Just what we found, what her options were, and what we’d recommend.

She checked in with Dad, they decided to replace both fronts, and job done.

That’s a big part of how we operate at Keen As.

We’ll always explain what’s going on, tell you what actually needs doing, what can wait, and answer your questions properly.

Because knowing why you’re spending your money is just as important as knowing how much.

Funny sort of Monday at Keen As.

Cody’s been fitting truck tyres, reps have been popping in, weekend jobs have been followed up, and Shaun got promoted to school-run duty so Rach could go and have her mouth inspected.

Result: one extraction booked for next Thursday and one operations manager currently running on painkillers, spite and questionable patience.

So, for simplicity, don’t p**s off the admin lady this week. 😂

Meanwhile, the week ahead is looking like one of those “where are we even going today?” situations.

Fairlie Friday is locked in, plus we’ve got a few random “next time you’re through” jobs dotted around the place.

We actually want more of those.

If there’s something you need done next time we’re through your area, let us know before you see us announce a run.

That way we can build the run around you instead of Facebook helpfully showing you the post 24 hours after we’ve driven past your gate. 😂

Fairlie Friday basically grew out of exactly that. A few jobs became a few more, and now it’s a regular thing.

So whether it’s tyres, repairs, fleet checks, pressures or something else that can wait, flick us a message and we’ll put you on the list.
