Tough weekend to round out the first half of the series, but we kept digging deep and finished on a high.
Had a wee woopsy on practice day which left us battling a busted shifter for the rest of the weekend. Managed to limp the bike through qualifying and still put it P12 despite the damage.
Race 1 we fitted a new rear set and shifter, but couldn’t get it meshing with the quick shifter so had to revert back to a normal shift pattern — brought it home in 12th.
Race 2 we finally got the quick shifter working again, although not without dramas, and after having to start from pit lane we salvaged a solid P15.
Race 3 was another challenge after a rider stalled on the grid in front of me as the lights went out, giving us a rough start, but we fought through to finish P8.
Ended the weekend on a high in Race 4 with a
strong P6 finish.
7th overall in the championship at the halfway mark. Not exactly where we want to be, but after the kind of weekend we had, there’s plenty to build from. Time to reset and come back stronger, smarter, and sharper for the next rounds at home Hampton Downs Racetrack.
Massive thanks to everyone supporting me and the team through a character-building weekend. Plenty learned, plenty of positives to take away, and we’re looking forward to the second half of the Pirelli Moto NZ - North Island Cup NZ series.
