Last week I had the opportunity to go and talk to the students of Taupiri School about what it's like being an elite athlete who was preparing for the olympics. The kids were amazing with some very insightful questions. It was an amazing time seeing so many young faces so excited about sport!

Little late bit what a year it was! So many memories made along with new friends.

A massive trip spanning 7 weeks and 3 comps; World Champs, Bolzano, and the Commonwealth Games. I am grateful to have shared that time with so many amazing people.

Then once home straight into back to back shoulder surgeries. A massive struggle not being able to get back on the boards for 5 months.
In saying that I am excited to see what opportunities this year has to offer and am determined to work harder then ever to get back to where I was pre surgery.

What a pleasure it was to be invited, not only as the guest speaker but to also help present the top awards at the sports awards night for my old high school Waitakere College. A massive congratulations to all award winners. It was amazing to see so much tallent in one room. A special well done to Charlotte for receiving the Dux Ludorum!
I look forward to watching out for all the upcoming athletes coming through Waitakere College.

Q&A with post Commonwealth Games 2022

1. What were your thoughts leading up to your Commonwealth Games debut?

A: Leading into my commonwealth games debut, I was feeling good. Having competed at worlds and in Bolzano as part of the lead in really boosted my confidence. I had been training really well, and had made some good technical changes.

2. Do you have any pre-comp routines, and did they change?

A: My pre comp routine stayed the same. I like to sit on my own and visualise doing my dives. This helps calm my nerves and sharpens my focus.

3. How was this international atmosphere similar / different to other events you’ve been to?

A: The atmosphere in Birmingham was electric, the crowds were brilliant. I could sense that they wanted everyone to do well. I definitely added to my performance, thinking about it now gives me goose bumps.

4. How did you feel during and after your event?

A: I can’t really remember what I felt during the event, I just allowed myself to be immersed in the event and the atmosphere.
After my event I felt elated, I knew I had dived really well, I didn’t make any big mistakes. I was really proud of myself and of for making it to the final.

5. What are you most proud of?

A: I’m proud of my performance, I’m also proud to be a part of this team. The seven of us really grew and got better and better. Representing my country at the comm games goes without saying.

6. Overall reflection?

A: I can’t wait to do it all again!!

7. Best part about the Comm Games Village?

A: Food halls and food trucks!!

Wow!

What an experience it has been. To not only dive at the commonwealth games but to place 8th in prelims and 9th in finals, along with getting a PB!
I don't have the words to describe how happy I am.
A massive thank you to all those who were there supporting me and have supported me so far.

This is only the beginning!
