Taumarunui Junior Basketball Competition uses basketball and games to provide fun and enjoyable learning experiences for young people from Year 1 to 8.

Taumarunui Junior Basketball is based on modified games that provide fun and enjoyment for everyone.

A huge shoutout to all our awesome iSports basketball volunteers who continue to step up and give their time and energy to support the game week in, week out.

From officiating games, setting up equipment, helping with school clean-ups, and simply showing up with a positive attitude, every contribution makes a big difference.

These students are also trusted with the important responsibility of selecting the Dream Team and deciding on special awards. Providing them with these opportunities helps build their confidence, leadership, and decision-making skills.

We can’t thank you enough for the role you play, not only in keeping basketball running smoothly, but also in the way you give back to our wider community.

2026 YEAR 3/4 MINI MEEZE BASKETBALL - DREAM TEAM
Dream Team – Selected by the iSports Referees

This Dream Team has been selected by the iSports referees over the course of the season to recognise players who have consistently demonstrated outstanding qualities both on and off the court.

These players showed:
🏀 Excellent sportsmanship
🏀 Strong leadership
🏀 Clear communication with teammates and officials
🏀 Positive teamwork and support for others
🏀 Respect for the game, referees, and opponents
🏀 A positive attitude and effort every time they stepped on the court

These athletes helped create a great environment for everyone involved and represented the true spirit of Junior Basketball.

Taumarunui Junior Basketball Finals – This Friday

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Teams will be playing for their final playoff positions in each grade.
At the end of each game, there will be a prizegiving for those teams, so whānau will not need to stay until the end of the evening for prizegiving.

Final Prizegiving: 6.20pm

Drawn Games
If teams are tied at full time, they will be awarded equal placing, unless it is the playoff for 1st and 2nd.
For the 1st vs 2nd playoffs only, if the score is tied at full time, the game will go into a 3-minute overtime period. Teams will continue to play five-on-five for the full shortened period until the buzzer.
If the score is still tied after overtime, both teams will be awarded as equal winners.

🏀 Sideline Reminder 🏀

Just a small reminder for everyone supporting from the sidelines.

Our younger players sometimes struggle to hear their coaches and referees when the gym gets very loud. To help the games run smoothly, we ask spectators to please be mindful of sideline noise during play, especially when referees are making calls or coaches are trying to guide their teams.

We absolutely love seeing the energy and support from whānau in the sidelines, that’s what community sport is all about. We just ask that we keep sideline instructions to the coaches and allow referees’ voices to be heard so the kids can follow the game properly.

Thanks for helping create a positive and supportive environment for all players.
