This year's Wednesday night touch tournament has its first ever all girls team. The team called Making Waves is made up from local girls who player ripper, touch or tackle aged 12-14 yrs. They won their inaugural game against an all adult team who have played alot of touch. Great signs for this growing area of our membership, and more evidence why the Pavilion needs facilities for women and girls.

These lovely people are our new SSP Committee who are responsible for our existing pavilion, and the new one when it's completed. This group is chaired by Darren Wright (independent) and has representatives from the cricket and rugby clubs as well as the RSA.

Darren Wright has been working behind the scenes dotting i's and crossing t's to make sure the new pavilion has the right structure in place to ensure it thrives. This includes becoming the independent chair of the new pavilion committee that has been established with representatives from our three founding entities. Last night we had our first rehearsal! 💃🕺

We can’t show you the routines just yet, but we can show you our first run at choreographing the dancers’ entrances for the start of the night.

Some were in full performance mode from the very first twirl… others were taking a slightly more casual approach 😂 Either way, it’s all starting to come together — and we can’t wait for Saturday!

A very special Strictly return ✨

While the judges considered their final decisions, our 2016 winner Amy returned to the dance floor with Manni for a stunning exhibition performance.

Amy took out the Strictly Sumner title in 2016 alongside Nick Brown from FreshChoice Sumner. This time, she and Manni brought the drama, suspense and seductive elegance of James Bond to life in a beautiful Rumba to Sam Smith’s *Writing’s on the Wall*.

Some of you will know Amy Carter (or McDermott) from around the Bays.

She learned to ride her bike on St Leonard's Square. She's been to countless games here, 21st birthdays, post-match celebrations. Five generations of her family -McDermotts and Carters - call Sumner home.

So when Amy talks about the pavilion rebuild, it's personal.

Amy's now putting her strategic and fundraising experience to work leading this campaign. Ngā mihi, Amy - we're lucky to have you.

As the mastermind behind our media coverage and communications, she's inspired us with her tireless efforts.
