Obedience Trials Association The club for Working Trials and Tracking Trials in the South Island, New Zealand. http://otanz.weebly.com/ Dogs compete in ascending levels called ‘stakes’.

Working Trials originated in the UK and are a competitive sport based on the civilian equivalent of police dog work. Working trials started in NZ in 1966 and became a three level competition in 1978. Working Trials develops and tests many canine skills – obedience and control, intelligence and independence, searching and tracking, agility and fitness. Trials are physically demanding for both dog a

nd handler, but are also great fun and extremely rewarding. From the lowest stake, Companion (CD), through Utility (UD), Working (WD) and Tracking Dog (TD) at the very top, the dog is required to obtain 75% of the marks in each section and 90% overall in order to qualify and thereby progress upwards to the next stake.

Morning all, finally Sunday’s TT results🙂

TT1A Helen & Fame HQ, Helen & Hippo, Lisa & Keyo
TT2A Vicki & Moss HQ, Deo & Rocket, Suz & Axel, Moiroa& Hondo
No TT3 qualifiers either.

Big congratulations to all qualified 🙌
Even those who didn’t qualify have worked really hard and there was some really nice recovery💪
Also a huge thank you to Ania taking on the big task of managing the first Tracking Trial. It was very well handled and thought through ❤️
Last but not least thank you to all the helpers, tracklayers and planners especially those who came to help without running their dogs.

Righty oh. Now I have had a chance to sit down here goes. First off I want to thank all our tracklayers and helpers including a couple of newbies, who were not competing and braved some quite undesirable weather and boggy conditions to come and not only help but do a bloody awesome job too Linley Barrett BP Parkes Lyn Pilling Suz Phibbs Maria Frahm. You guys did good.

Thank you to our main judge Leesa Burns for coming down judging and letting me do my WD probationary along side.

Thank you to our 3 farmers who have moved stock to enable us to run all over their land for the weekend.

Now to the nitty gritty 😁
Saturday we only had 1 qualifier. That was Sue Richardson and Tylah who achieved a WD, BT, HQ.
TD Carolyn Roberts & Luna BFT, Michelle Ingham and Stark BHS.
UD Sue Richardson & Marty BT

Sunday we had two qualifiers.
TD The big one was Michelle Ingham & Stark qualifying and getting their first TDX HQ BLT

Carolyn Roberts & Luna BFT
WD Sue Richardson BT
UD Vicki Grieve and Moss BLT.

We saw some great team work and some lovely tracks. Thank you all for being such good sports and contributing to a very fun weekend despite the weather.
