Hannah joined me for PT sessions while spending 6 weeks in the South Island on holiday — and what a journey it was.

Each week we focused on building her confidence, improving her technique, and giving her the tools she needed to train independently. Outside of our sessions, Hannah showed up for herself and stayed consistent with her own training and that’s where the real growth happened.

Week by week, the weights went up, her strength improved, and her confidence grew. One moment that stuck with me was when she said, ā€œI can actually see my quad definition.ā€ That’s the kind of progress we train for.

Most people think fat loss is complicated…It’s not.

But it is easy to get wrong.

You can eat ā€œcleanā€, train hard, and still not lose fat.

Why?

Because none of that guarantees a calorie deficit.

Fat loss comes down to one thing:

Consistency in the right direction.

Not guessing.
Not hoping.
Not ā€œeating healthy.ā€

Over the weekend I did a leg session, and even though I still get nervous pushing heavy because of my injury from last year, I always give it my best. Squats have been a big challenge for me, but I managed to squat just 3kg under my body weight. Carl told me to just do one rep, so I went down, came back up, and then asked him, ā€œCan I go again?ā€

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it, it felt so comfortable and completely pain-free.šŸ’£

Swipe right to see where it all began… and just how far I’ve come šŸŽ€

This didn’t happen overnight. There were days I felt unmotivated, days I was tired, and days I wanted to give up, but I didn’t. I showed up anyway.

I’ve learned that progress isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being consistent. It’s about choosing discipline over motivation, trusting the process, and putting in the work even when no one is watching.

Every early morning, every tough workout, every small choice added up to this. And the best part? I’m still growing, still pushing, still becoming a stronger version of myself - mentally and physically.

If you’re at the beginning of your journey, this is your reminder: Keep going. It’s worth it. You’re worth it.

But none of that builds a body that lasts.

The strongest predictor of long-term health, and resilience isn’t how light you are…it’s how strong you are.

Lifting heavy is one of the only interventions that:
• Improves bone density
• Preserves muscle mass
• Supports hormonal health
• Builds real-world strength

This is what keeps you capable as you age.

Cardio still matters, but it’s a tool, not the foundation.
