The Maniototo Rugby Club was established in 1998 after the amalgamation of the Gimmerburn Patearoa and Ranfurly Clubs. The Maniototo name better describes the locality of the player base. The blue and red colours of the rugby jersey have the history of the amalgamated clubs, the Ranfurly crest is still worn. Practices and matches are played in Ranfurly at Maniototo Park unless ground conditions require a shift to Gimmerburn. The Maniototo Plain is situated in the heart of Central Otago..

This Saturday we celebrate a huge milestone for one of our own

Sam Jopp bringing up 50 games in the Maggots jersey.

A local lad as loyal as they come, Sam returned to the region to farm alongside his family and has built a busy life with his now wife and two children. Despite the demands that come with work and family life, his commitment to the club and community has never wavered.

An outstanding rugby player and an even better bloke, Sam has been a massive part of the Maniototo Rugby community both on and off the field. We are incredibly fortunate to have him pulling on the Maggots jersey each week.

Good luck for Saturday, Sam. Congratulations on 50 games, a fantastic achievement. The entire Maniototo Rugby community wishes you well and looks forward to seeing you play many more. 🏉

All the Juniors are playing through out the morning leading up to the Senior game kicking off at 2.30
Get down, fill the day in and support the kids!!

All Sponsors and Old Boys are invited to come along and join in the celebrations. There will be food and drinks provided for you in the Sponsors area.

Waipiata Pie Company will be on site all day to keep everyone fed and watered

Heres your Maniototo Maggots to take on Wakatipu. Saturdays are for sport so kick that work wear off, pick up yours mates and head over to Queenstown for lunch and an afternoon of footy…. 11 degrees, a bit of cloud and little to no wind. Good weather for our lads…

And remember, Club Days next week. We have the Seniors and all the Junior teams playing at home, we are looking forward to filling the offal pit for a great afternoon of Rugby 🏉
