💗 WHY STRENGTH TRAINING MATTERS EVEN MORE IN PERIMENOPAUSE

Ladies, if you're entering your 40s and noticing your body changing, you're not imagining it.

Perimenopause brings significant hormonal fluctuations. Oestrogen and progesterone can become unpredictable, and these changes can affect our muscle, bones, metabolism, recovery, sleep, mood and where we store body fat.

But here's the empowering part…

We can train our bodies to become stronger and more resilient through this transition. 🔥

🏋️‍♀️ STRENGTH TRAINING

Regular resistance training helps us maintain and build muscle, which is incredibly important as we age.

More muscle means a stronger, more capable body—and muscle tissue also plays an important role in how our bodies use glucose and manage energy.

🦴 BONE HEALTH

Declining oestrogen during menopause can accelerate bone loss. Progressive resistance training provides a mechanical stimulus that helps support bone strength.

🔥 BODY COMPOSITION

Hormonal changes can make maintaining muscle while losing body fat more challenging.

Strength training, combined with appropriate nutrition and a sustainable calorie deficit when fat loss is the goal, can help us work towards losing fat while protecting the muscle we've worked so hard to build.

🩸 METABOLIC HEALTH

Muscle is metabolically active tissue. Resistance training can improve insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation, helping our bodies use the fuel we eat more effectively.

🧠 MOOD & MENTAL WELLBEING

Exercise can support mood, stress management, confidence and overall wellbeing—which can be especially valuable when sleep and emotions are being affected by hormonal fluctuations.

😴 RECOVERY MATTERS TOO

And this is where we need to change the conversation.

Perimenopause isn't the time to punish your body with endless cardio and restriction.

It's about training intelligently.

Lift.
Recover.
Eat enough protein.
Move your body.
Sleep when you can.
Manage stress.
Build muscle.
And adjust when your body tells you to.

💗 We don't need to fight our changing bodies—we need to work WITH them.

Suzy’s Health Path 2 Fitness | Learning the Balance 🩷

I’m learning that being hungry doesn’t always mean I need to eat. 👀

When you’re losing body fat, sometimes hunger is simply part of the process — and I’m learning to be okay with that.

BUT… there’s a fine line between being hungry and being under-fuelled.

I still need to fuel my body so I can:

🥩 Get enough protein to support muscle recovery
💪🏼 Maintain/build my muscle
⚡️ Have energy for my busy day
🏋🏼‍♀️ Train hard
😴 Recover properly
🚶‍♀️ Have energy for my 2x 30min walks daily
⏰ Stay consistent with my fasting window

The goal isn’t to eat as little as possible.

The goal is to eat enough of the right things, at the right times, while creating the deficit I need for fat loss.

That balance is something I’m learning every day.

Because I don’t just want to lose weight…

I want to lose body fat, keep my muscle, get stronger and build a body that can carry me through the life I’m creating. 🔥

This is Suzy’s Health Path 2 Fitness.

Not a quick fix.
Not a crash diet.
Lifestyle habits that create my future. ✨

✨ RECOVERY DAYS ARE HAD LIKE THIS ✨

Today I treated myself to the most amazing 2.5 hours of pure relaxation at Oriental Relaxation Beauty Spa. 🥰

Full-body massage ✅
🔥 Hot stones
✨ Facial
💆‍♀️ Head massage
🫧 Hair shampoo
💨 Blow wave

Honestly… my body and soul said THANK YOU! 😂❤️

When you're working full-time, running a business, raising kids, training hard and constantly giving your energy to everyone else, recovery isn't a luxury — it's part of the plan. 💪✨

Massage and relaxation can help support:
🌿 Reduced muscle tension & soreness
🧘‍♀️ Stress relief and relaxation
💤 Better sleep and nervous-system down time
💆‍♀️ Improved circulation
✨ A feeling of mental clarity and wellbeing
❤️ Giving your body the chance to recover from all the work you ask of it

I'm learning that rest doesn't mean I'm being lazy. Rest means I'm investing in the body I'm working so hard to build.

So today there was no guilt about slowing down…
Just 2.5 hours of being completely spoiled. 😍

And let's be honest… the chicken noodle soup at the end was the cherry on top!😋

Recovery is part of my lifestyle plan.
Stronger body. Calmer mind. Happier me. ❤️✨

✨ 2 WEEKS. 2 KILOS DOWN. 💪🔥

I’m pretty damn happy with this! 😍

For 2 weeks in a row, I’ve dropped around 1kg on the scales while maintaining — and continuing to build — muscle. 🙌

And the best part? I’m not doing anything crazy.

I’m simply being consistent with the lifestyle habits I know work for me:

🥩 Protein at every meal
🏋️‍♀️ Lifting weights & prioritising getting stronger
🚶‍♀️ 30-minute walk every single day
⏰ 16–18 hour fasting window most days
😴 A solid 8 hours of sleep — yes, I’m officially a nanna 😂
🌙 In bed and asleep around 8:30–9pm because apparently wild nights are no longer my thing! 🤣

And something else I’m learning on this journey…

You have to get comfortable with being a little hungry sometimes.

When you’re in a calorie deficit and trying to lose body fat, hunger is going to happen. It doesn't mean your plan isn't working, and it doesn't mean you need to eat every time your stomach makes a noise.

There’s a difference between being hungry and actually needing to eat.

For me, learning to recognise that feeling, sit with it and know that it will pass has been a huge part of changing my relationship with food.

That doesn’t mean starving myself or ignoring genuine hunger — it means I’m no longer afraid of feeling hungry. ❤️

I’m learning that fat loss doesn’t have to mean starving myself, smashing endless cardio or living on lettuce.

It’s about building habits I can actually sustain.

I want to lose fat while keeping — and building — the strong, muscular body I’ve worked so hard for. 💪❤️

This is my lifestyle plan, not a quick-fix diet.

And two weeks in… it’s working. 🔥

One kilo at a time.
One habit at a time.
One stronger version of me at a time. ✨

🌿 SUNDAY = RECOVERY DAY 🌿

Sunday is my favourite kind of training day…

Training my body to do absolutely bu**er all. 😂

After a week of work, workouts, life and all the things, Sunday is my day to slow right down and recharge the batteries. 🔋✨

😴 Sleep in — because apparently 5:30am doesn’t need to happen EVERY day!
🥑 Eat good food — because recovery needs fuel
🚶‍♀️ Go for a walk — movement, but make it leisurely
🧘‍♀️ Meditate — quiet the mind
🔥 Sauna — sweat out the week
🧊 Cold therapy — because apparently I enjoy voluntarily freezing myself 🥶😂
🛋️ And plenty of REST!

Recovery isn't being lazy. It’s part of the training.

Your muscles, nervous system and mind all need time to reset, repair and come back stronger. 💪✨

So today I’m swapping “go harder” for “slow the heck down.” 😂

Because sometimes self-care looks like meditation and sauna…

…and sometimes it looks like eating something delicious in comfy clothes and refusing to feel guilty about it. 😜❤️

🌱 From patio pot to plate… 🥬

There’s something so satisfying about growing your own food — even if it’s just a few pots on the patio! 🥰

Today I harvested my homegrown spinach, and honestly… food just feels a little more special when you’ve watched it grow from a tiny seed into something you can pick and eat. 🌱➡️🥬

And spinach is one little powerhouse of a leafy green!

💚 Packed with vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, C and K
💚 A great source of folate and iron
💚 Contains magnesium, potassium and other important nutrients
💚 Rich in antioxidants that help protect our cells
💚 Naturally high in fibre to support healthy digestion
💚 And it’s an easy way to add more nutrient-dense goodness to your meals

I love the reminder that nourishing our bodies doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.

Sometimes it’s as simple as stepping outside, picking a handful of fresh greens and putting them on your plate. 🌿

Grow a little. Eat a little. Nourish a lot. 💚

Lately I've been putting a real focus on supporting my lymphatic system—not because it's a quick fix, but because it's an important part of looking after my overall health and recovery.
The lymphatic system helps move excess fluid, supports immune function, and clears waste from the body. Unlike the heart, it doesn't have a pump, so it relies on us to keep it moving.
Some of the things I'm doing regularly include:
✨ Strength training and walking
✨ Deep breathing
✨ Infrared sauna sessions
✨ Lymphatic massage
✨ Staying well hydrated
✨ Prioritising quality sleep
✨ Eating nourishing whole foods

I'm not chasing perfection—I'm simply creating healthy habits that help my body function at its best.
Our bodies do so much for us every single day.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down, recover, and give them the support they deserve.

What are you doing this week to support your health? 💚
