The South Island is also blessed with many beautiful golf courses. One, however, stands out from the crowd by not just relying on natural beauty but also human creativity. This course is covered with unique art installations. The combination of man and natural beauty makes for one of the world’s most unique rounds of golf you will ever experience.

There are many beautiful golf courses in the world and deciding which is the most beautiful is certainly no easy task. For my money 💰, Jack’s Point tops the list.
The beauty doesn’t come from one area or any group of holes. Nope! Here it’s a 360 view of nature that is truly awe inspiring. Much in the way the old course at St Andrews has a spiritual connection because of its history to the game. Jack’s Point smacks you in the face with its spiritual connection to Mother Earth.
The remarkable mountain range rises straight out of the ground in a way that only makes sense once you understand plate tectonics. Then, cresting the hill at the 5th hole, the grandeur of lake .. and the surrounding mountains 🏔️ bring the whole experience full circle. You stand on the 6th tee and realize…this is it. This is that place that you saw as a young boy, depicted as fantasy art 🖼️ golf. The holes you only wished were real are now a reality at Jack’s Point.
The whole experience reminded me of when I went heli skiing ⛷️ for the first time in Banf, Canada. After I felt untouched 4’ deep powder on a mountain by myself I knew my days at the normal ski hill were over. I can only hope that I can return to normal golf after being at Jack’s Point. I’ll finish with this: If I had 10 rounds left to play in my life, Jack’s Point would certainly get more than one go around from me

The first day of the Michael Hebron tournament at Bethpage Black was full of ups and downs. I was able to shoot a peaceful 74 on the hardest course in the world. This has me in 16th place heading into day 2.
I am really grateful for the opportunity to play this magnificent course with some great playing partners on one of the most beautiful days of the year.
Don’t forget to take in the special moments in life with full attention because the detail in which you remember anything depends on your full awareness. ✌🏻

My final round in NZ was at Arrowtown Golf Club. Some locals call this place “Narrowtown” for its narrow corridors. I call it “Tempotown” because I was feeling its rhythm all day long. Originally a 9 hole course built in the 1930’s then expanded to 18 in the 1970’s, the course is an example of golf and nature converging to create a truly unique golf course. Rocky outcroppings and narrow valleys create some thrillingly daring hole designs. The greens are quick, small and severely sloped in spots. This course is a true roller coaster and the minute you finish you will want to go around again! For my 50th birthday I had one wish- to play golf in New Zealand 🇳🇿. Today that wish came true…Thanks Mom! 😘
Te Arai Links 🔗 on the North Island of NZ is a new resort that boasts 2 incredible golf courses.
The North course, which is featured here, is a Tom Doak design and is routed mostly through a sandy forest 🌳 a short distance from the ocean. Being only a few months open I had my hesitations about how the course would play. To my surprise 😮 the conditions were perfect 😍. It was as if the course had been around for years.
The course starts and finishes at the ocean 🌊 and the transition from forest 🌳 to sea is sublime. The greens are some of the most imaginative I have seen from Mr. Doak and it was a most welcomed change of pace. The course does have some growing in to do around the edges but that should in no way deter you from paying a visit to this truly amazing course. Just make sure and leave time to play a second round, as learning the lines off some tees and some approaches will perplex you the first time around 🤬.

In my quest to find the most remote courses in the world, Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course, located in Fiji, is definitely that.
Set along the Pacific Ocean, the coral reef is in constant view. Luckily for me, right after the round I went snorkeling off the shore and brought the experience to a whole other level.
The course is quite difficult and if the trade winds are up I would say probably unplayable. For me the gentle breeze made for a perfect day. I would advise anyone coming to Fiji to make sure and play Natadola Bay - it’s truly a one of a kind seaside experience. The jungle holes are pretty wild too!
