PIRONGIA COLTS 2027 | THE LINE-UP IS IN!
A NEW SEASON. A NEW COACHING CREW. PLENTY TO LOOK FORWARD TO.
The club is pumped to officially unveil our 2027 Colts coaching and management team! A quality mix of provincial experience, proven coaching credentials and familiar Pirongia faces, all coming together to take the next generation of Colts rugby forward.
HEAD COACH | Pete Walter
A Pirongia club man through and through! From junior rugby at Pirongia to senior rugby for both Pirongia and Utiku Old Boys, Pete has built an impressive playing and coaching rƩsumƩ.
A pivotal part of our Senior Aās success as Forwards Coach in 2025 and 2026, Pete also stepped up as Head Coach of the Waikato Divisional XV U21s in 2026, a role heās been reappointed to for 2027.
Rugby runs deep in the Walter family. His dad, club patron and stalwart Allan Walter, is a former Pirongia player and current Presidents coach, while Peteās own kids are coming through our junior ranks, with Dad coaching their teams too!
ASSISTANT COACH | Armyn Sanders
Some serious provincial rugby pedigree! A former representative player for Waikato, Counties, Thames Valley and Wairarapa Bush, Armyn also played senior rugby for Pirongia.
Having been part of our Senior Aās coaching set-up in recent years, he brings extensive playing and coaching experience, particularly around the backs. A valuable addition to the Colts coaching team.
RECRUITMENT & PERFORMANCE LEAD | Shaun Bicknell
A proper club man! Having played Bās rugby in recent years and more recently turning out for the Presidents, Shaun brings plenty of passion and enthusiasm to the mix. Heāll play a key role in recruiting fresh talent and supporting player development.
PLAYER/MANAGER | Boston Zeuren
Another homegrown Pirongia boy who came through our junior ranks! Boston steps into a leadership role while continuing to develop his game on the field. Itās a great opportunity for him to build his leadership experience as he progresses through senior club rugby.
NEW FACES. NEW OPPORTUNITIES.
With several of our 2026 Colts moving up into senior rugby, 2027 presents an opportunity to welcome new talent and build on the foundations already in place.
Congratulations to Pete, Armyn, Shaun and Boston on their appointments! We wish the team all the best and look forward to seeing what they can achieve together in 2027.
