RIP John.
Morrinsville Polo Club ,where you played a game or 2.
Thank you for a lifetime of polo.

It is with very deep sadness the we hear news of the passing of our New Zealand Polo Patron John Watson yesterday after a brief illness. John was originally from the Cambridge Polo Club and recently lived within the catchment of the Kihikihi Polo Club.

John had the greatest knowledge and recall of the history of our wonderful sport and loved passing on the history and his memories. He was a player of great ability in his day, winning the Savile Cup in 1965, 1970, 1971 and 1973 along some other exceptional team mates - notably his brother Jim Watson (in every Savile win with John) and in 1965 alongside Kenny Browne (father of the current NZ Polo President, Alan Browne). He also represented New Zealand in 1964. John was on NZ management for 34 years.

John’s quiet, unassuming manner and dry sense of humour endeared him to all fortunate enough to meet and know him. He will be greatly missed by all Polo players and supporters in New Zealand and throughout the wider world Polo community.

We offer the Watson family our most sincere sympathy.

Hi folks.
Not much happening at the Morrinsville Polo Ground. Still waiting for council to make a plan for the future of the reserve. I certainly hope it involves polo.
Meanwhile we still have Morrinsville players playing and this weekend we played the Northern Polo Association Champs at Kihikihi and came away with the win.
The team of Joe Gray, Bruce Watson, myself and Nina Clarkin.
This week Morrinsville is heading to Auckland to play the National Champs. Slightly different lineup but all go.

Thanks Kevin Gray
