A big weekend at KartSport NZ National Schools Champs in TePuke.

This event was an awesome opportunity to represent our schools New Plymouth Boys' High School and Pātea Area School.

Practice day Friday saw heavy rain all day, which made a muddy pit area and a lot of gear that needed washing and drying for racing on Saturday.

Due to a lack of numbers Flynn had to race Rotax Lights instead of his normal DVS, which was a bit of an adjustment.

In the wet practice conditions Flynn took a while to get up to pace, but by the end of the day was feeling comfortable with the kart. Taine showed good pace during practice and his pace had him in the 8th place for one of his runs.

Racing on Saturday saw a complete change in conditions. The sun came out and the track was starting to dry during qualifying runs. Unfortunately a wrong decision with set up saw Taine qualify in 20th in a field of 23. Flynn made the call to go out in wets for his qualifying but after the first couple of laps the track dried out and saw Flynn cook his tyres, leaving him qualifying in 21st in a field of 23.

Poor qualifying meant starting at the back of the grid for both heats for both boys, which meant a struggle for the rest of the day.

In the final Taine started in 22nd and finished in 18th, Flynn qualified 17th for the final, but a mechanical problem meant he didn’t make it out on track for the final.

A big congratulations to the rest of our Taranaki team mates who had awesome results!!! A special shout out to Cash Feek who finished his first national event in 5th place, but missed standing on the podium due to an error by officials.

Day 2 for National Sprint Champs. The day has started off with wet conditions. Taine will be out shortly and Flynn will be roughly 10mins later!!!

2025 Kartsport New Zealand National Sprint Champs are underway in Hamilton.
We’ve had two days of practices so far and heading into the serious stuff today with a couple of practice runs, then into qualifying. Heats will run tomorrow with pre finals and finals on Sunday!!!
The weather has been holding so far so fingers crossed it continues!!!

A beautiful day in Wellington for Practice Day for WPKA Goldstar Round 2!!

Both had a solid day!
Taine managed PBs for all his runs.
He started his first race from 29th and finished 26th, his second heat he started 29th and finished 25th. We’ve come with no expectations for him and he’s been doing so well!!! He’s got huge fields which is very intimidating, especially in a new track.

Flynn had an awesome day. He’s also been doing great times. His first heat he started 7th and finished 4th. In his second heat he Dnf’ed. He was pushing very hard and locked the breaks and spun out into the bags.

Today both boys will race the pre-final, and Flynn will race in the final. Due to Taine’s class being so big, only 34 will qualify for the final, so he is unlikely to qualify, which we expected.

Flynn and Taine are racing in their first National Event in Hamilton this weekend at the New Zealand Karting Grand Prix.

A big step up for both boys, especially since they haven’t raced at this track before. Both had solid runs during practice yesterday and will race a qualifying race and then two heats today. Pre-finals and Finals will be raced tomorrow!!

For qualifying the boys race order will be as per the photo.
Taine is Vortex Mini ROK 1, kart #83.
Flynn is Vortex ROK DVS, kart #27.
Racing is set to start in about 20mins.

Today was a bit of fun with our South Taranaki based KartSport Taranaki club mates as we were part of the Hawera Christmas parade. It was cool to be able to promote our club to the community!!
