Finally got to one of my own bikes this weekend.
I knew something wasn’t right in the damping leg of the manitou circus forks on the dirt jumper. Some funny noises after a few heavy landings at Gorge Rd😬

But after pulling them apart and removing all the broken bits I couldn’t bring myself to order another plastic replacement part that will probably break again…
…Time to fire up the lathe😁

The new aluminium part, above, allows for a slightly larger oil bath and more clearance from the damper rod piston at full stroke (which I suspect is what broke it anyway🤨)

Also took advantage of having the forks apart to put in new foam rings and replace the oil with a slightly thicker grade for more damping.

If none of that means anything to you; it’s just better!

We’re back!
It’s been an awesome summer on the road, a few races, some good results and more importantly loads of fun with family and friends.
I’ve had an almost total social media holiday (recommended!) and I’ve almost cleared the workshop backlog.
So if you need any repairs, there’s about a 10 day wait at the moment, but it’s getting done and the lists getting smaller…😅
